About Me
- I'm a science geek. My focus is in biology but I also follow other areas, e.g. astronomy.
- I'm also a language geek. I pick up languages quickly and am into linguistics and wordplay. Aside from my native English, I speak intermediate-level French and bad Mandarin Chinese. (I'm working on the Chinese part.) I also seem to have picked up some amount of Spanish and Japanese by accident, and I'm good at recognizing cognates and puzzling out grammar even in languages I don't properly speak.
- My musical likes include but are not limited to heavy metal, alternative music, and classical music.
- I'm mostly a political liberal with significant environmental leanings, although there are some positions I take that are more often regarded as conservative.
- I'm an atheist.
- I'm have a boyfriend. We've been together since 2008, and may marry in the next year or so if circumstances permit. I am bisexual.
- I'm shy. Please don't interpret that to mean that I don't want to make friends, though.
- I'm a little hesitant about revealing this because, at least online, people often seem to treat doing so as an attention-getting gesture and it's honestly not something I'd like a lot of attention paid to, or they treat it as a lie/troll (my case was diagnosed by a professional specializing in the disorder when I was five and the diagnosis has remained steadfast since then, thank you very much) but I have Asperger syndrome. Wikis are a godsend for me since I can fully indulge my passion for arcane minutiae there. As a comorbidity of Asperger syndrome, I also have clinical depression, and so I tend to come off as pessimistic and very hard on myself. tl;dr I'm kind of a facts-obsessed Eeyore.
