Hey!

Hey man! Glad you decided to join the community!

If it's advice you're looking for, a great way to learn your way around a wiki is by checking any page's source code—look at the page in the "edit" view. That way you can see how images and templates are formatted. Then when you want to edit, it's just a matter of replicating what you see. That's how I learnt most of what I know from wiki editing.

So if you're just starting with wikis and you're looking to build a userpage, just take a look at some other users' pages, copy-paste what you like, and change the specifics to suit you personally. It's that simple! For example, you could copy the userbox format on my userpage, and then replace all the individual userboxes with your own. All list of the wiki's userboxes can be found here.

I strongly recommend you check out the Help Guide as well, starting with this section. There's lots of good stuff about editing in there, some of which you won't be able to pick up from just looking at pages like I said. This is also true for the Quality Standards, which outlines the wiki's rules. Help:Userboxes and Help:User Navigation Bar will also come in handy for building userpages.

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask me or any other active staff. We're here to help! — Hylian King [*] 15:08, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks man! Greatly appreciated and another question for you. How can I upload an image just for my user profile? Chief-of-Triforce 19:52, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, for sure! Zelda Wiki allows personal images. Just be sure to select "Personal Image" under the "Type" dropdown if it's not a Zelda image that we could actually use on the wiki. You also have to select a license for the file as outlined in our uploading guidelines. If you're not sure what license to put, just leave it blank and someone else will tag it after. — Hylian King [*] 20:10, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's what I was guessing when I looked around. Now for another question. I'm trying to use those userboxes like the ones from your user page but to fit me, but having trouble with these templates. Chief-of-Triforce 20:19, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could you be a little more specific as to what you're having trouble with?
I noticed you tried to make a new template for Twilight Princess. That's great, but on your edit here you actually overwrote a template that was already used on several pages for something quite different (Template:TP is used to generate the link Twilight Princess). If you want to make a new userbox, you'll have to create a new page. — Hylian King [*] 20:24, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well that was my problem. I wanted to make something new or insert one that exists already. Sorry about overwriting it, just a novice mistake, PROMISE. I just love to learn things on my own and tend not a look at any kind of help guides. Once again, Thanks! Chief-of-Triforce 20:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
