Sigs In Templates

Question. Can we put our sigs into a private template? That would make it easier to read the edit view, and save a ton of space on talk pages.Emma (Talk) 19:53, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
This isn't relevant to my question. But I was only joking about creating this: ^_^. Look at it. It is so obvious. The Japs made it! I looked it up, they really did in the 1980's, only they had it like this: (^_^). But I really made this one (^¿^). It is not an easy character to enter. So no one has done it. See? I've got it macro'd (macrod??? macroed???) so it is easy.
Now, back to my question. Adam and Ando (and Ando? And+o? Is that where you got it?) please answer when you get here to this page. Zeldapedia has those talk bubbles. We want to stay with sigs. So why not make them templates? You may have noticed how these sigs made this talk page's size explode. Because of that I think it would be a good idea. Then we can assign the template to our macros. To prevent complications and confusion I suggest a requirement that the templates have the same name as the username, not a nickmame, or abbreviation. Thought?Emma (Talk) 20:11, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Hey. anyways: 1) I understand, 2) I know!!! Ando got his name by taking his actual first name (I won't disclose it so his privacy remains) translating it into Japanese (Because that's what his language is that he's learning (I'm learning Spanish)), and since it's long, he just cut's it off to Ando. 3) SECONDED. Seablue 20:32, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Heh, that reminds me. Okay, first all no one be offended, I'm quoting Eric Cartman from South Park

Suck my balls!
— Eric Cartman

I translate that into Spanish (I don't know it I used a tool) and back to English until it was the same each time. This is what I got:

It inhales my balls!
— Repeated Translated Version of Eric Cartman's Quote

Strange isn't it? Yeah it is gross, but that's Eric Cartman for you. You do know Cartman right? You have to! You must!(^¿^)<Oh, Sea, add try adding subst: to your dash template on your sig. That way it doesn't refer back to the template.Emma (Talk) 20:41, June 22, 2008 (UTC)

Bleh. How'd I miss that? Seablue 20:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Most of this page is going in an archive now. Don't add anything until I'm done.Emma (Talk) 21:56, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Thirty-two KB. Bigger than I would have liked but it'll have to do.Emma (Talk) 22:03, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Wow. Apparantly, our expert has more templates than our sysops. Seablue 22:05, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm cool with this idea. I won't say that we should make anyone do this, but if you want to (and still keep the signature within our signature standards, i.e. no images, etc.), go on ahead. --Ando 22:16, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks, thanks for that :). You still on a downgraded fox? Seablue 22:20, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is better. We have to keep the time and date in the macro, but that is the smaller part so it is no big deal.Emma (Talk) 22:32, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Still on a downgraded Firefox? I just downgraded this afternoon. Why would I upgrade again? :P --Ando 22:51, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I didn't know. Anyways, what made you downgrade? Seablue 22:54, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ando, would mind clarifying the rules for signatures? Not here, I know them I just think you can do it better. Place the rules here please.Emma (Talk) 23:09, June 22, 2008 (UTC)

From what I understand, Ando didn't like the the address bar in Firefox 3.Emma (Talk) 23:20, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Oh yes. (Shouts over to Ando) YO ANDO, YOU KNOW THAT YOUR ADDRESS BAR IS SET UP BY MAKING YOUR 12 LATEST BOOKMARKS GO IN ORDER, RIGHT? JUST SET UP YOUR BOOKMARKS WITH THE TOP ENTRY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOOKMARKS LIST, MAN! Seablue 23:26, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Call us old-fashioned. We prefer the old layout. Now I know how my parents feel about this kind of thing. Sometimes, older is better.Emma (Talk) 23:35, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Whoaa!! Older designs not older people! That was a close one.Emma (Talk) 23:36, June 22, 2008 (UTC)

Rules added. I'm pretty sure that those should do it.
Also, Sea, it's not the order of the addresses that I mind, it's the fact that the drop-down menu only stores 12 addresses. I prefer for it to store ALL of my regular sites. Makes it easier for me to remember to check it for updates. I'm not good with remembering sites. :P Firefox 2 does this, hence, I downgraded. --Ando 23:59, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sigh. Call me stupid, but me ;likes the new Firefox. Seablue 00:23, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
St... stupid? Why would we call you that, because you like something I don't? If that were the case, the world would be a sad place. --Ando 01:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nother Question.

What does the PAGENAME thing do? Seablue 22:34, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It sorts it by the page's name instead of the full name. So mine would sort only considering "Matt" instead of "Template:Matt". So it puts under the "M" heading instead of "T".Emma (Talk) 22:37, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
Oh. That makes sense. Seablue 22:39, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Guys check this out. A company tried to trademark this emoticon :-(. They actually threatened to sue people who typed it. They later revealed it to be a joke after it backfired. That is a really serious joke there. °‿° Heh, Heh...Emma (Talk) 01:26, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Okay I know your going to ask. Just do this:
<div style="height:200px; overflow: auto; padding: 5px"> </div>
You can put whatever you want between the tags.
I know I didn't get any sleep. But did you know thatI didn't sleep at all the night before my Calculus final,(for no reason, I just didn't sleep)? Guess what? I was the only one to get a perfect score. Heh, heh. Suckers. They studied hard, sleep long, got a horrible grade. I didn't study (Why study what you know by heart?), didn't sleep, and beat 'um bad! In fact, I am unfamiliar with this concept of studying. "Studying, do you mean that some people actually have to relearn what the just learned all the time? What wrong with their brain? Don't they store the information properly?" That's what I always thought in my head when ever people asked why I didn't study but still was smarter than everyone and scored better. Yes I'm bragging. But cut me some slack I've been up for twenty-three hours. (forty hours here I come!!!) Here's a neat tale. About seven years ago I stayed up all night, that's much harder to do when your younger. Then we went to the big city about a half hour away. Okay it was Sioux Falls. It is the only major one there really. So anyway we went around to stores and everything. At noon we went to a restaurant and had all-you-eat steaks (ohhh yes! beeefff!!) and other buffet items. We went around to some more stores and then went home. Is that story boring? Well here's the catch: I was sleep walking the whole time! I fell asleep on the way there. I thought it was a dream until they told me the next day. I actually handled a knife and fork, ate three steaks, talked to people, and walked around without hitting anything. All while sleeping! It was the weirdest day of my life, ever. Did I talk too long?(⁀¿⁀) Emma (Talk) 11:27, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
What was I going to ask? --Seablue254 14:04, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My user page. Looky, looky!Emma (Talk) 14:48, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

Yeah....

Wanna explain? Your whole talk page had the deletion banner all over it. Seablue 14:25, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The deletes? I think the templates were marked for deletion. I've replaced them all. Now they all directly link to our new ones.Emma (Talk) 14:27, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Good. For a second, i thought we either: 1) Had an invisable vandal, 2)You went crazy, or 3) Firefox went crazy. Seablue 14:30, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Best to remove the link after marking it for deletion.Emma (Talk) 14:33, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

Lolwut? Seablue 14:35, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The temp picture you uploaded. It isn't need anymore. You marked for deletion. WE don't want a red link here now do we.Emma (Talk) 14:41, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

If you want your sig in color you can just copy the colored one from Ando's talk page.Emma (Talk) 14:46, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

Understood. However:
WE don't want a red link here now do we.

Are you implying i suck because I don't really like red links?! Seablue 14:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Reverse the subject, no suck. I don't really like red links. The "E" was supposed to be small. Typo. And by we I meant me.Emma (Talk) 14:57, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Oh. Sorry about that accusation :( Seablue 14:59, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey

I guess I'm gonna make 'Twilight Temple' (thought you might wanna know, I'm commencing with making it even if it's not considered elligible for the 'true affiliation' ZW offers). Pakkun 23:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

That's good. We hope that you can successfully obtain your own domain soon. It's possible! We'll be expecting to have you join us in the future. Good luck!Emma (Talk) 23:31, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
If you want, I can give you the domain. But I still feel like waiting (a month). Also, somebody created an account of 'twilighttemple'.webs.com but the site's blank so maybe it was to prevent me from making it. Good thing that I didn't want it to be twilighttemple (I don't like the two 't's being together.) Pakkun 23:49, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

I know that there must be other places that might host your site. You can still call it Twilight temple. but right now your freewebs domain doesn't have to be exactly the same as its name does it? If your planing on getting your own domain latter, then it doesn't really matter what it is now.Emma (Talk) 23:55, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
:o Who took the name?! This is a scrutiny!! Seablue 00:05, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Um... I don't know. Check www.twilighttemple.webs.com, it doesn't have any editing done yet so IDK. Pakkun 00:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

Jason is the person you want to talk to. He was in the chatroom when I checked it five minutes ago. Yes, the Jason. Maybe he's still there.Emma (Talk) 00:08, June 24, 2008 (UTC)

He;s at dinner. Better check back. Seablue 00:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For what? Also, I've changed my attitude (Seablue), I was just speaking practical the second time on my talk page, a couple years here would be really good for me. Um, I'm not going to release my site until it's finished. You guys can look at it once it is done (at least in the .webs stage to where it's functional). I'll probably set up a Paypal account with my sister to help fundraise enough for a domain name (i'm not asking you to, so don't take it that way). After I get a domain, I'll make my own template for it so it can look pretty good. I'm gonna work on some details on my website for now. Pakkun 00:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
For being entered into this. he Collaboration. He'll be there all day. Seablue 00:20, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't want to impose right now, but I guess I could. Are you talking about the Zeldauniverse.net forums (dumb + clueless = me)? Pakkun 00:23, 24 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
Oh wait, nevermind (i'm blonde!) It won't let me do it. So I can't Pakkun 00:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC) PakkunReply[reply]
Just as a note, once you do get a site up and running (and perhaps establish yourself a bit? I'm not sure that the staff would be cool with a just-came-out-two-days-ago site joining), you can toss a request message at Adam or myself, and we can get it over to the staff forums. That's where the decision process takes place. ;) —Ando (talk) 00:51, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, I'm not planning to try to join for quite some time after I get a domain name. But I think that maybe I'll request after some time. I'm not trying to rush this, I just want to "rule my site with an iron fist and then head for more power", by that, I mean that I want my site to be pretty good before I try anything else. (I'm kinda planning this out now, like when I play Go.) Pakkun 01:09, 24 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
...... It's quiet... too quiet... Actually, (I think I was high when I wrote that :3, not really but...) I need a 'Zelda' Name. Zelda '______' Like Zelda Universe (which is awesome) or Zelda Informer. But I really liked Twilight Temple... Any suggestions? Pakkun 22:52, 3 July 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

"Zelda Twilight" isn't too bad. Is that taken? If not it might be good. It is no more weird than some of the other sites in our collaboration. Sound good? Or perhaps "Zelda: Twilight Temple". That seems unique. You could try that.Emma (Talk) 23:18, July 3, 2008 (UTC)

I guess I'll choose a different name not pertaining to Twilight. Any other suggestions? Pakkun 23:54, 3 July 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
I don't hate the name. I just checked a bit too late and it might be taken already (by someone spiteful). Pakkun 00:16, 4 July 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

Featured Article rotation

Alright, the new templates are made. Let me know when you're ready for me to update the main page (the Featured Picture schedule can wait if you don't feel like doing it now; we're not pressed for a new slot with that). I'm about to go eat lunch, though, so I'll be back in a second. —Ando (talk) 18:16, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'll with the mods. When I'm done type this in for the featured articles:
FA/33
I'll get to making the changes.Emma (Talk) 18:22, June 24, 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to make a version of these templates for every additional pair of templates we add and save them to my PC. That way, next time we need to update it, I'll already have the new version ready to go. does that sound like a good plan to you?Emma (Talk) 18:49, June 24, 2008 (UTC)
Sounds pretty awesome, man, thanks. I'm off to update the main page now. —Ando (talk) 19:01, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think that we can put the FP template in now. We've displayed our new image long enough. Emma (Talk) 01:03, June 25, 2008 (UTC)

On his page it says: "Being the kind person he was, he used his thoughts to transmit the password into Lars' brain." Yeah it is dumb, but I based my joke on it. Do you get it now?Emma (Talk) 02:50, June 25, 2008 (UTC)
Oh. Now i get it :D Seablue 10:36, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I Found It

HOLY CRAP!!! I actually found a setting that really reduces Firefox's RAM and processing power, a lot!! I was looking through about:config, yeah it is late, and found a setting. At the time Firefox's Ram consumption was 160MB and processing power consumption was 32%, It is always a about 32 when I'm idle. SO I change the setting then almost instantly they went down to 82MB and 5%!!! That was a half hour ago! I've search some sites and could find mention of it. Guess what I is 85MB and 7% usage! This is nuts! I bet you guy can't wait for me to tell you! I'll keep you in suspense! Hehehehehe!!!! :P Maybe I'll tell you later today!Emma (Talk) 07:24, June 25, 2008 (UTC)
PS: Google search this: "You got Marin" "monkey fight" Do you see what comes up? Hehehehe! (^¿^)

Either tell me now, or you'll be sorry. ;) Seablue 10:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Firefox saves your session every ten seconds. This is a constant drain on your computer's resources. You can change how long it waits before saving. Here is setting: browser.session.interval. The value is at 10000, change it to 100000. The memory usage of Firefox now is not much higher than a few hours ago (I left it open). Better right?Emma (Talk) 10:56, June 25, 2008 (UTC)
Hey! This is the same setting in Tab Mix Plus. It is under session, then Advanced Setting. It is the minimum time between save states. Remember that 1 second = 1000 milliseconds.Emma (Talk) 13:04, June 25, 2008 (UTC)

I'll be back

Yeah, i'm leaving at 11 in the morning or so today for a trip. I'll be back the day after in the afternoon. Just letting you know so you're not like "wut the hell this guy won't answer his page!!111!" or "lolwut?! this guy isn't in the chatroom but he asks me all the time to be here?!!!11!". Seablue 11:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

halp plz

Hey, Mattman. So I'm trying to work on a template, and I, uh, don't know how to fix this problem. Basically what I want is to have a field wherein the name of an image can be entered and it will display the image in the template (so like thisbemahimage.png would display the image itself, automatically formatted to the left like most of our notification templates are). Obviously this won't be its only feature (that would be silly), but it's one of them. Any ideas? —Ando (talk) 00:51, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You could use #switch if it changes with text. (Example:{{#switch{}|imageone=|Imagetwo=imagettwo.jpg
|andsoon=|defaultimage=}}}}} Seablue 01:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I thought about that but that would be a loooooot of bloody options. Well over 200, actually. —Ando (talk) 01:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Srsly? Can I has an idea on whats going on? Seablue 01:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You know that "quote from [whatever] figurine" stuff on most of The Minish Cap pages? I want to standardize that and also make it a self-contained box. The easiest way to do this is to make a template that handles it, then just convert each one of those sections to the template. —Ando (talk) 01:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The instructions are in one of my talk archives. I think it is here. Try that. You should be able to enter any formatting you would like for each instance. The featured template thing I put together has over 370 options, depending on the day. So it is doable. Emma (Talk) 01:18, June 30, 2008 (UTC)
Right, I saw that, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it WITHOUT having to enter in over 200 options for each possible entry of text. As in, just have them type in the name of the image within the template tag and have the template display said image. If not, well... guess I better get to work typing. —Ando (talk) 01:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Me thinks you better get typing :| Seablue 01:41, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ando:
For put
Might be better just for options though. It is more work now, but less work for those that use it.Emma (Talk) 01:47, June 30, 2008 (UTC)

I tried that but it didn't look like it was working. :/ Hm... good point regarding the ease-of-use factor. Blaahhh. It's not like I don't have enough to be writing as it is. >_< Alright. Whatever. I'll put this on the back-burner for now. The Help Guide comes first. —Ando (talk) 01:51, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Uncon Template

Hey. I saw that you used the Uncon template for the person who made the Rabbit-Fang-in-Light-World edit. I think that they might have honestly thought that the edit was correct. I was under the assumption that this template would be used for edits that you would just look at and say "Okay, what the crap, how can you think that this is acceptable?" (such as our, uh, new friend's picture that he seems to be so proud of) and used as a sort of "This = no good. Cease and desist these kinds of edits" warning. Unless I'm wrong here? —Ando (talk) 05:20, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The template is more polite than you're making it out to be. The edit was nonconstructive that's for sure. The template does say to go to the article's talk page if the person thinks that their edit was valid. So it is okay. I might want to refrain from using it on such a minor change in the future.Emma (Talk) 05:50, July 5, 2008 (UTC)

Screen Brightness

You guys remember me saying that my screen was way too dark right? I said before that I got a program to fix it. The program is Gamma Panel. To calibrate the my screen to what it should be, I compared this image with the identical one on the cover of the Prima Guide for Twilight Princess. I think that it is right now. Things do look much better now. You have to load up the program every time you start your computer. So you should copy down your setting(s) in a text file and save it. It is useful to set many settings to hot-keys. I have found that this makes editing images about a hundred billion times easier! That way, if an image is too dark for you to properly edit it, you can increase your screen brightness with Gamma Panel to make it easier to see. This doesn't effect the images brightness. If you increased an images actual brightness with an image editing program, you might lose information on the image and it will look bad if you try to revert the change; that is, without using the undo option. Gamma Panel lets you increase the brightness of your screen itself so that you can easily see the image without actually affecting the image's data! This is cool! Don't you guys agree?Emma (Talk) 03:00, July 6, 2008 (UTC)
PS: Ando, I really liked not having to worry about the Captcha link when I saved this page just now!:) As you can see from the links, they don't have that symbol. That is done by putting the link in between these tags: <span class="plainlinks"></span>
