Not to be confused with Eldin Volcano Interior, another area in Skyward Sword.

Inside the Volcano is a location in Skyward Sword.[1][2]

Features and Overview

Inside the Volcano is an area in the Volcano Summit connecting to the Fire Sanctuary. The area is divided into three primary parts with each having its own Thirsty Frog Lock and corresponding Flame Wall blocking the way forward.

In the first area, there is a Thirsty Frog atop a small set of Stairs and Stone Tablet explaining that the only way forward is to quench its thirst with Water.[3] The Volcano Summit Pool is located nearby to provide this Water for Link to carry in an Empty Bottle, provided that he does not already carry any. Gorko can also be found here in search of Goddess Cubes.[4] He requires Link's help to pass through the area.[5]

The second area is littered with Soil patches. Along the eastern side of the area, there are two Bomb Flowers and a group of Blessed Butterflies. By strumming the Goddess's Harp near these, Link can summon a Gossip Stone who provides a random Treasure and informs him that there is a Piece of Heart nearby.[6][note 1] The Soil patch in front of this Gossip Stone reveals a burrowing spot that can be accessed with the Mogma Mitts found within the nearby Fire Sanctuary. This burrowing spot leads to a small cavern with Fairies and the rumored Piece of Heart. On the western side of the second area, there is a Cracked Wall and a ledge with Vines that lead to a platform above a second Thirsty Frog. As this Thirsty Frog cannot be accessed by foot, Link must stand atop the platform above it and drop Water onto it. Behind the Cracked Wall, there is an additional pair of Soil patches.

The third area is an open pit connected by a bridge. The entrance to the Fire Sanctuary sits at the north end of the bridge, flanked by a lone Bird Statue and two towers. The eastern tower bears five Jars on its floor with an additional two more in the tower's window sills. There is also a bench which Link can Sit on to restore his Life Gauge. The western tower bears an additional five Jars and an open window that Link can climb. Outside of this window, there are two spires with Vines to Clawshot onto. These spires lead to a ledge near the southern end of the bridge. Atop this ledge there is a Goddess Cube and a Soil patch.

The Thirsty Frog blocking entrance to the Fire Sanctuary is much larger than the previous two. When Link approaches, Gorko comments that it must be guarding something important and that the Thirsty Frog requires a larger quantity of Water than what Link can carry in a Bottle.[8] He also questions where Link would find a source of Water large enough to fill a sufficient container, as the Volcano Summit Pool is too small.[9] Fi will also affirm that there is no suitable source of Water nearby, and recommends that Link first search for one before retrieving a container.[10]

With LD-301S Scrapper's help, Link can return here with Faron's Water Basin filled with Water from Lake Floria.[11] When this is done, the Flame Wall blocking the entrance to the Fire Sanctuary will disappear, allowing Link to enter.[12] Gorko also respectfully stands aside, claiming that Link has earned the right to explore the Sanctuary first.[13]
