Talon (タロン, Taron) is a simple man who is in charge of Lon Lon Ranch. Although he keeps the ranch in good condition, he is a very heavy and long sleeper. Sometimes it would even take a cucco to his ear to wake him up. He has a daughter, named Malon, to whom he entrusts his finest horse, Epona.

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, Talon appears many times during Link's adventure. He starts off as his usual lazy self, and after Ingo seizes his ranch he becomes even worse, sleeping all day. When he regains control of his ranch he is always seen outside (in contrast to earlier in Link's quest when Link was a child and Talon was always found inside). He now pledges to "Turn over a new leaf".

During the past, Talon would allow Link to play a mini-game in which Talon would toss three special Cuccos into a crowd of Cuccos and ask Link to find those specific three. The prize would be a bottle full of milk.

Oracle of Seasons

Trivia

  • Talon, along with his employee Ingo, seem based off of Mario and Luigi from the Super Mario Bros. series. This isn't too far of a step, as The Legend of Zelda series has included things such as monsters taken directly out of the Mushroom Kingdom on more than one occasion. Talon, of course, would be based off of Mario as opposed to Luigi, due to the startling similarities in their appearance. In Oracle of Seasons, Talon's hat has an M on it, just like Mario's. The irony in this symbolic relationship is of course the Bowser emblem on Talon's scarf, which is also present on Malon.
