Template:Species The Mages are cloak-cladden girls that vocally support Vaati in Four Swords Adventures. They occasionally reward Link and thank him for freeing Vaati.

The mages appear in various levels throughout the game, giving bits of advice. One of the mages, in the Village of the Blue Maiden, charges Link 100 Force Gems for a fortune. This fortune warns of impending bad luck. then she robs Link of all Force Gems. Still in the Village of the Blue Maiden, a guild of secret agents known as the Seeker's Guild are investigating the mages in connection with the disappearance of the children. They discover that the mages knew something, but are innocent.

Despite supporting Vaati, they are not harmful enough to be considered enemies. One mage gives Link a Moon Pearl, another gives him the Magic Book and requests him to give it to her apprentice, and one mage, who claims having created the Bombos and Quake Medallions, allows Link to use a Quake Medallion.

Theory

File:VaatiTransfigured.gif

During Four Swords series, the evil wind demon Vaati is seen as personifying the Eye Symbol with his one giant stylized eye. Although the form Vaati took after his transformation is reminiscent of the Sheikah, he is revealed to be of Minish descent. However, since the Sheikah are known for their skill in magic and as the only real Sheikah known is a female (Impa), it is intersting to note that Vaati is supported by this group of female mages. Like the one in the Village of the Blue Maiden, Madame Fanadi, a suspected Sheikah from Twilight Princess who shares traits with Impa in the Oracle series, is a Fortune Teller.

Trivia

The Fortune Teller from A Link to the Past shares her appearance with the mages.
