Numerals

Could we agree that the Gerudo Numeral System is pretty much like the mayan? User:NorskTW/sig 14:54, 19 March 2012 (EDT)

Maybe, but it's hard to know for sure when we only know two numbers. — Hylian King [*] 08:25, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Skyward Sword Appearances

Does anyone know where any instances of the Gerudo alphabet appear in Skyward Sword? Linebeck IV 22:39, 23 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Gerudo Language?

So, shouldn't this be Gerudo Language? At least in Breath of the Wild, Gerudo seem to have their own language as well as script. Or at least a greeting? A Gerudo (Calisa) near the Gerudo Canyon Stable greets with a "Sav'aaq". I assume that's Gerudo? Haven't actually seen more yet, tho. — Zero-ELEC (talk) 19:36, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Definitely it's own language, I think. Heading deeper into the Gerudo region, have encountered "Sav'saaba" (another greeting?) and "voe" (man, obvs) — Zero-ELEC (talk) 20:13, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, the Gerudo have their own language. I would like to see every bit that we can find of it listed on the wiki, however this is not the page for it. Typography is specifically text, not the language. That being said, both language and typography 'could' be rolled into one page. ~D0xis of the V0id~ (T|C) 20:56, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Here's what I have so far (from up to the outpost):
Phrase Meaning
Sa'vaaq Greeting (Afternoon)
Good afternoon
Sav'saaba Greeting (Evening)
Good evening
Sav'otta Greeting (Morning)
Good morning
Voe Man
Vai Woman
Sarqso Thanks
Vasaaq Welcome
Sac'orq Goodbye
Vaba Mother
I'm sure there's more. Oh, and the reason I said this should be language, rather than script is that we have Sheikah Script as Sheikah Language even though we only know of writing. I thought it prudent to have this also be language, given that this has both spoken and writing. But I digress.— Zero-ELEC (talk) 04:37, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ya know what, I think you're right. Every other language on here has been converted to say 'Language' so this one should too. I'm going to add this table for now so we can add to it as needed. If anyone has a better idea for how to list them, go right ahead.

I made a tiny mock-up (plus general clean-up) of what the page would be like if it's moved. I'd even be willing to move it myself and fix redirects and stuff. — Zero-ELEC (talk) 09:23, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have to agree with moving it. Though I do have to ask: do we actually know that Vaba means Mother? It makes sense in the context we hear it, but it could also be grandmother or aunt or cousin or anything like that.ReignTG (talk) 13:47, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No, we don't know for sure. It could olso be grandmother, which is why on the actual page it's listed as "seemingly some sort of relative." I would like to know for sure, but I'm still going to see it as 'mother.' As for the move, The Gerudo Language page already redirects here, so there's no reason NOT to move it. ~D0xis of the V0id~(T|C) 14:39, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, It's not necessarily mother, that was just my assumption. Unfortunately, this can't be moved normal users, since the Gerudo Language redirect already exists. — ZeroELEC (talk) 16:32, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay so this is a bit of a delayed response, but I'll weigh in my thoughts.
Language and script are not the same thing. While a script can be used to translate a language into a written form, the two are wholly distinct things that are not interchangeable. Consider how the Latin alphabet is shared across many different languages. I have no issue with there being a Gerudo Language page, but it should be kept separate from Gerudo Typography.
As for "Sheikah Language", the page really should be moved to Sheikah Script. Midoro (talk) 02:31, 20 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The reason I suggested moving this to Language was to match the Hylian Language articles which technically deal with both spoken and written word, but it would be completely fine to separate script and language here. Should I draft up a Gerudo Language page? — ZeroELEC (talk) 18:39, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

So, should this be moved? Or should spoken language be separated from script? Or what? — ZeroELEC (talk) 04:38, 11 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
