Gerudo Canyon Stable is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

Gerudo Canyon Stable is a Stable located at the western end of Gerudo Canyon in the Gerudo Highlands. The Stable is managed by Piaffe, with Pirou being employed as a worker. The Kay Noh Shrine sits on a cliff south of the Stable, and the main entrance to the Gerudo Desert, the Gerudo Desert Gateway, can be found to the west. A Sign at eastern end of Gerudo Canyon directs travelers to stop by the Stable before entering the Desert.[3]

Like most Stables, Beedle can be found in front of or inside of Gerudo Canyon Stable, where he sells his wares. It is also one of the Stables that Kass visits, offering to play an "Ancient Song" for Link.[4] Maypin, Hylian Merchant, travels to and from the Stable alongside his Donkey. During the "Captured Memories" Main Quest, Pikango appears at Gerudo Canyon Stable, where he is able to identify the fourth Picture in Link's Album as featuring Kara Kara Bazaar.[5] Several travelers also stop at Gerudo Canyon Stable during their journeys, those being Lukan, Calisa, and Gartan. A poster demonstrating a Recipe for Chilly Mushroom Risotto can be found on the Stable's wall.

When staying at Gerudo Canyon Stable, Link can choose to rest in either a regular Bed for 20 Rupees or a soft Bed for 40 Rupees.[6] Piaffe explains that the soft Bed leaves its users feeling more energized when they wake up.[7] If Link decides to stay at the Stable, Piaffe offers to wake him up in the morning, at noon, or in the evening.[8] Once Link makes his choice, Piaffe will send him off to sleep.[9][10] When Link wakes up, Piaffe will greet him.[11][12][13] By sleeping in the soft Bed}, Link will receive a bonus Heart when he wakes up.

As part of the "Rushroom Rush!" Side Quest, Pirou asks Link to bring him 55 Rushrooms, offering a Diamond as a reward.[14] When Link returns with the correct number of Rushrooms, Pirou will direct him to a Treasure Chest behind Gerudo Canyon Stable, within which he can find his promised Diamond.[15]

At Gerudo Canyon Stable, Link can meet Sesami, who was separated from his friends while they were traversing the Koukot Plateau Path.[16] During the "Missing in Action" Side Quest, Link is tasked with finding Sesami's friends and telling them where Sesami is.[17] After Link saves each of Sesami's friends, they will join him at Gerudo Canyon Stable.[18][19][20][21] Once all four of them have been saved, they pool their Rupees to give Link a Gold Rupee as a reward.[22] They also decide that caring for one another creates emotional liabilities, and when Link returns to the Stable in the future, only Sesami will remain.[23]

If Link befriends the Hylian Retriever that resides at Gerudo Canyon Stable, it will lead him to a metallic Treasure Chest buried in front of the Stable, which contains a bundle of 10 Ice Arrows.[24]

One Korok Seed Puzzle can be found at Gerudo Canyon Stable. It takes the form of a Natural Hiding Spot disguised as a Rock, which is located on top of the stone pillar in front of the Stable. When Link picks up the Rock, a Korok will appear and give him a Korok Seed.[25]

  14. "[What's the matter?] See, I... I'm tired. Tired of going normal speed, I mean... I first tried rushrooms when I was five years old... And come to think of it, I ate them every day since without fail... Back in the day, I'd win every race I ran thanks to those things... Cut to 55 years later... Now I can barely drag these bones off the ground without those rushrooms. But no matter how many I eat to fortify myself... I'm just too old to get up the cliffs to pick rushrooms where they grow... That's why I'm letting all able-bodied sorts know that I'm in the market for 'em. I'll give a diamond for 55 rushrooms. That's worth the effort, right? If you want to do business, just come talk to me. I'm always here." — Pirou (Breath of the Wild)
  15. "[I brought 'em.] 5... 15... 25... 35... 55... Heh, yep, they're all here... I left that rock I promised you behind the stable. Beats me why anyone would go to such trouble for a little ol' rock... I'd rather have rushrooms any day." — Pirou (Breath of the Wild)
  16. "Hey, did you happen to see any of my friends? They're four travelers named Oliff, Flaxel, Canolo, and Palme... We were all walking together when some monsters suddenly jumped us near the Koukot Plateau path. I took off running and didn't stop until I got here. I thought my friends were right behind me, but when I turned around, they were nowhere to be found." — Sesami (Breath of the Wild)

  19. "He's at Gerudo Canyon Stable? If he thinks I'm going to forgive him for this, he's got another thing coming!" — Canolo (Breath of the Wild)
  20. "So Sesami was kicking his feet up in the stable while I was being tortured by those sorry sacks?! Oh, I'm going to go give him a piece of my mind, all right. A piece of my fist too!" — Flaxel (Breath of the Wild)
  21. "Sesami...is waiting at the stable? He didn't come to save me? But he said he'd mastered the martial arts. Did he...lie to me about that? Nah...this must be a misunderstanding." — Palme (Breath of the Wild)
  22. "As soon as they all got back safely, a wave of emotion washed over me. Thank you. Thank you so much. I want you to have this." — Sesami (Breath of the Wild)
  23. "In a way, I'm kind of glad all of this happened. It's helped me realize just how important friendship is. Opening up to others might make you more vulnerable, but it's also the only way to give your life any value. That said, caring for others is an emotional liability, so my friends and I have decided to part ways. Not really sure what the takeaway is here..." — Sesami (Breath of the Wild)
