South Akkala Stable is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

South Akkala Stable is a Stable located in the Akkala Highlands. It is situated at the fork between Kaepora Pass and the Shadow Pass. Like other Stables, South Akkala Stable features a Cooking Pot available for use by travelers. Behind the Stable is a pen, which is where Highland Sheep and Cuccos are kept. Several Wooden Boxes have been left outside, which Link can break open for Materials. Inside the Stable is a poster, depicting a Recipe for an Egg Tart.

South Akkala Stable is owned and operated by Dmitri, who manages its Horse-boarding services and Inn.[4][5] His four daughters, Kaifa, Jana, Tenne, and Gleema, are also employed at the Stable. Kaifa's responsibility is to watch over the livestock, while Jana has been tasked with tending to the Stable's Flowers.[6] Tenne is able to switch the Horse Gear or Mane of Link's Horses.[7] Beedle can be found selling his wares at South Akkala Stable. The travelers Laroba, Lonni, Naddon, and Pitar all stop at the Stable during their journeys. Lastly, the Hylian traveler Rex currently resides at the Stable.

When staying at South Akkala Stable, Link can choose to rest in either a regular Bed for 20 Rupees or a soft Bed for 40 Rupees.[8] Dmitri explains that the soft Bed leaves its users feeling more energized when they wake up.[9] If Link decides to stay at the Stable, Dmitri offers to wake him up in the morning, at noon, or in the evening.[10] Once Link makes his choice, Dmitri will send him off to sleep.[11][12] When Link wakes up, Dmitri will greet him.[13][14][15] By sleeping in the soft Bed}, Link will receive a bonus Heart when he wakes up.

When Link initially tries to talk to Jana, she will be dismissive of him.[16] After giving her an Armoranth, she admits that her impression of him was wrong.[17] As part of the "Little Sister's Big Request" Side Quest, Jana asks Link to find out what Insect her sister Gleema wants to see for her birthday.[18] Upon hearing that Gleema wants to see dragonflies, which Jana hates, she requests that Link find a Cold Darner, an Electric Darner, and a Warm Darner.[19] However, she is unable to take them, so she has Link deliver them to Gleema on her behalf.[20] When she receives the dragonflies, Gleema is so happy that she runs over to show them to Jana,[21] much to her sister's horror.[22] After calming down, Jana gives Link a Silver Rupee as payment for his help.[23]

When The Master Trials Downloadable Content Pack is active, a copy of the Super Rumor Mill V2 can be found on the table inside South Akkala Stable. As part of the "EX Teleportation Rumors!" Side Quest, Link is tasked with reading the Book to learn the location of the Travel Medallion.[24] The Super Rumor Mill V2 states that the Medallion is hidden in a labyrinth in northeastern Akkala.[25]

If Link befriends the Hylian Retriever inside South Akkala Stable's livestock pen, it will lead him to a metal Treasure Chest embedded in the ground on the eastern side of the pen.[26] Using the Magnesis Rune, Link can pull the Chest from the ground and open it, at which point he will receive a Knight's Claymore.[26]

  18. "I see... A traveler, eh? In that case, I have a request for you. My little sister, Gleema, is a huge fan of insects. I know, I don't get it either. But apparently there's a certain insect she's dying to see in real life. She won't tell me about it, though. I suppose there are some things you just can't talk about with those you're closest to. Anyway, would you mind talking to her and trying to figure out which silly insect she's so crazy about? It's for her birthday... Think of it as a special birthday favor. Ooh, or even a birthday quest. Look, just do it, OK?" — Jana (Breath of the Wild)
  19. "No... now way! Of all things, she wants to see a gross dragonfly?! A warm darner, a cold darner, AND an electric darner? Three different types?! Ugggh... Anything but dragonflies... Just thinking about their eyes makes me feel sick. I see. So Gleema knows that I despise dragonflies, and that's why she wouldn't tell me how much she loves them... Well, this is her birthday wish... I didn't have a choice. Bring me a warm darner, cold darner, and electric darner, please. I want to surprise Gleema, so don't tell her about this!" — Jana (Breath of the Wild)
  20. "Have you secured a warm darner, cold darner, and electric darner? *gulp* Right... In that case, may I have them? ... ... Ewww... BAH! I CAN'T DO THIS! Please give them to her...just...give them to Gleema yourself!" — Jana (Breath of the Wild)
  21. "[These are for you.] Really? What is it? What is it?! WOW! Real-life dragonflies!! Are these really for me?! Hey, Big Sis! Lookee, lookee! It's a real life warm darner! And a cold darner and an electric darner too!! I'll bring 'em over so you can see!" — Gleema (Breath of the Wild)
  22. "HEY! Cut it out!! EEEEEEK!!" — Jana (Breath of the Wild)
  23. "Hey. I've managed to calm down. Somehow. Now then... I must thank you for catching those dragonflies. Here, take this." — Jana (Breath of the Wild)
  24. "Rumor has it there's a tool that allows you to instantly travel to wherever you've placed it.

Apparently South Akkala Stable has a copy of Super Rumor Mill EX, which details some rumors about this rare item...

  25. "Traysi here! No matter where I go, my love for rumors inevitably follows... Don't you make it a point to dig up rumors while traveling? In any case, today's topic of discussion is... The Dream of Teleportation! Apparently, there was once an ancient medallion that could instantly teleport you to wherever you placed it... What's more, this wondrous item may still be somewhere out there, just waiting to be scooped up! I must say, it sounds like the perfect item for travelers, adventurers, and rumor-lovers alike! I hear the treasure chest containing this tool is located beneath a labyrinth in northeast Akkala. Is it true, or just a beautiful dream? I'll let you decide that for yourself, dear reader.
