Entrance to the Shrine

Gatanisis Shrine can be found on the eastern side of the Akkala Highlands, on a cliff that overlooks the Lanayru Sea west of Knuckel Island. It corresponds to the Sisinatag Lightroot in the Depths.

Themes and Navigation

Gatanisis Shrine opens into a spacious chamber with a bottomless pit at the bottom. Opposite the entrance, there is a wide spring device that sits beneath a Target Switch on its right side. High above the left side of the spring device, there is a dispenser that releases a gigantic Iron Ball onto a ramp which rolls the Iron Ball along the length of the spring device. An extension of the floor leads to the left side of the spring device, granting Link access to the device, which has a small platform jutting from its side allowing Link to safely stand on it outside of the path of the Iron Ball.

In order for Link to hit the Target Switch with the Iron Ball, he must make timely use of the Ancient Power Recall on the spring device as the Iron Ball travels along it.[note 1] With the Target Switch activated, a portcullis along the wall opposite the entrance will raise, granting Link access to the end of the Shrine.

The Rauru and Sonia Statue found at the end of the Shrine

A Rauru and Sonia Statue can be found at the end of Gatanisis Shrine. By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[2][3]

  1. Because of how Target Switches function, a strike from a Bomb Flower can also activate it.
