Themes and Navigation

The interior of Jochi-iu Shrine

Jochi-iu Shrine opens into a great room that branches into three directions. On the right sits the end of the Shrine and a high ledge a high ledge with a Stone Chest can be found to the left. Directly opposite the entrance is a ramp that leads downward into a pit. Between the end of the Shrine and the downward ramp, there is a Concave Slot and a diode beside a floating Platform. A ledge below the Platform has an Electricity Generator and a broken circuit leading toward the diode.

A bisected platform floats over the pit, housing a stack of Iron Boxes reminiscent of an Osiadan tower. A square-shaped Iron Box with a rimmed top design sits at the top of the tower holding an Ancient Orb. A metallic Treasure Chest also sits on a rear-side Iron Box on the fifth row from the bottom.

In order to reach the end of the Shrine, Link must transport the Ancient Orb from the top of the tower to the Concave Slot near. This can be achieved through several means. The first method is to join two Iron Boxes from the tower and complete the circuit between the Electricity Generator and its diode. With the diode active, the floating Platform activates, moving between the floor of the room and the side of the tower. From the apogee of the Platform's path, Link can easily grab the Ancient Orb with Ultrahand and return to the Concave Slot.

Alternatively, Link can destabilize the tower and force the Ancient Orb to fall toward him. Before the Orb falls into the pit below, Link can stop it with Recall and quickly grab it with Ultrahand to carry it to the Concave Slot. Regardless of the method that Link fills the Concave Slot, the portcullis to the end of the Shrine will permanently open for as long as Link is inside the Shrine, even if the Ancient Orb is removed.

The bisected platform holding the tower is prone to giving way, forcing its contents into the pit below under various conditions. The first condition is if Link attempts to stand on the platform or its contents. The second condition is if the Ancient Orb falls into the pit. If the Ancient Orb falls into the pit, the bisected platform will return to its original position and the tower will reset to its original configuration. Once the Ancient Orb has been used to activate the Concave Slot, the tower no longer resets with it at its top unless the Orb happens to fall into the pit.

Following the Concave Slot's activation, the tower enters a second reset state. All previous conditions continue to apply, with one addition. The Treasure Chest located on the fifth row now forces the tower to reset if it falls into the pit, even if its contents are obtained. Similarly, regardless of whether the Treasure Chest has been opened or is sitting on stable ground, it will reappear on the tower as it resets if the Ancient Orb falls into the pit at any time. Finally, if both the Ancient Orb and the Treasure Chest are on safe ground and Link forces the bisected platform to dump its contents, the tower will not reset and both the Chest and Orb will remain in place.

A Rauru and Sonia Statue can be found at the end of Jochi-iu Shrine. By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[3][4]
