The Spring of Power is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Spring of Power is an Ancient Hylian Ruin located in Deep Akkala.[4] A tunnel from the Ordorac Quarry serves as the entrance to the Spring. It features a large Goddess Statue known as the Spring of Power Statue at its center, which is flanked by two Trees. Waterfalls flow down from a ring on a higher level, which supply the Water for the Spring. When Link approaches the Goddess Statue, he will be able to exchange Spirit Orbs for Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels.[5] The Dragon, Dinraal, has served the Spring of Power since ancient times.[6][7]

Prior to the second Great Calamity, Zelda would frequent the Spring of Power in an attempt to awaken her sealing powers.[8][9] In the "Slumbering Power" Recovered Memory, Link accompanies Zelda as she visits the Spring of Power in an attempt to awaken her sealing power.[10][11] In the middle of her prayer, she becomes frustrated that her power has remained dormant.[12] She recounts that her father, King Rhoam, has been scolding her for researching Ancient Technology.[13] Zelda curses Hylia, and she begins to cry as she wonders what is wrong with her.[14] After receiving the "Captured Memories" Main Quest, Link can recall this Memory at the Spring of Power.

At East Akkala Stable, Nobo will share a legend about offering a "sacred article" to the Spring of Power, which she believes could be part of the rituals Zelda performed.[15] Listening to this begins "The Spring of Power" Shrine Quest. The first time Link enters the Spring of Power, Hylia will speak through the Goddess Statue, instructing him to offer Dinraal's Scale to the Spring.[16] If Link does so, the door behind the Statue will open, allowing him to access Tutsuwa Nima Shrine.[17][18]

A single Korok Seed Puzzle can be found in the Spring of Power. On the ledge above the main level, there is a Rock that serves as a Natural Hiding Spot. When Link picks it up, a Korok will appear and give him a Korok Seed as a reward.[19]

Trivia

  • The layout of the Spring of Power strongly resembles that of the Earth Spring in Skyward Sword, being located around the same region and featuring identical geometry, waterfalls and architecture. However, the positioning of the Trees resemble the Skyview Spring, which is located deeper in the Faron Woods.
