Themes and Navigation

The interior of the Shrine

The entrance to the Kyokugon Shrine features a large stairway leading into a grand central chamber. Within this chamber, there are several levels that contain a total of 10 Concave Slots along the floor. Near the base of two staircases in this chamber, there are a total of four Ancient Orbs, which are meant to be placed in the Concave Slots. Magic-powered Torches along the walls feature a unique symmetry pointing both downward and upward, indicating that the solution to the Shrine's puzzle can be found on the ceiling. Along the ceiling, there are four glowing ripples that rest above four of the Concave Slots, showing which ones must be filled.

The answer to the puzzle

Once the Ancient Orbs have been placed within their respective Slot, a portcullis leading to the rear chamber of the Shrine will open. A Statue of Rauru and Sonia can be found in this chamber. Additionally, to the right side of this room, there is a caged side chamber with a Treasure Chest and a fifth Ancient Orb that sits outside it. Along the ceiling of this room, there is a fifth ripple sitting above a seemingly normal spot in the floor. However, a disguised Stone Box conceals the fifth Concave Slot. After placing the final Ancient Orb in its Slot, Link can release the portcullis to the caged chamber.

By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[2][3]
