Kyononis Shrine
The Kyononis Shrine,[1] designated by the trial name Combat Training,[1] is a Shrine of Light in Tears of the Kingdom.
Entrance to the Shrine
The Kyononis Shrine is a Shrine of Light situated at the edge of the Central Square in the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. It corresponds to the Sinonoyk Lightroot in the Depths.
The Kyononis Shrine consists of three chambers. Its purpose is to teach and challenge Link's combat abilities with a Training Construct placed at the center of the middle chamber. If Link approaches the Training Construct, it will awaken and a portcullis will fall behind him, preventing him from leaving the Shrine until he completes a combat trial. A Mysterious Voice will then call to Link, telling him to follow its instructions.[2] It teaches Link to perform Side Hop,[3] Backflip,[4] Perfect Guards,[5] and Charged Attack against the Training Construct.[6] This Construct cannot be destroyed until Link is prompted to perform a Charged Attack. While Link is tasked with Side Hopping and Backflipping, he is required to strike the Training Construct with a melee Weapon, while this is not required to advance beyond the Perfect Guard test.
When Link completes the Charged Attack test, the Training Construct will be defeated and the Mysterious Voice will acknowledge his skill, opening the portcullises in the Shrine.[7] A Statue of Rauru and Sonia can be found in the rear chamber. By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[8][9]
