Eldin Volcano is a location in Skyward Sword. It is a region beneath the clouds, in the land of Hyrule. It has very similar characteristics to Death Mountain, such as both being active volcanoes. Deep within the volcano itself lies the game's second dungeon, the Earth Temple and on the summit lies the Fire Sanctuary.

Appearance and Features

Eldin Volcano is the second location on the Surface that Link visits on his quest to find Zelda during the events of Skyward Sword. Eldin Volcano is an active Volcano and is very similar or the same as Death Mountain, and is inhabited by the Mogma. The Mogma have set up camp here to search for treasure, or in their case Rupees. However recently, Bokoblins have begun to appear all over Eldin Volcano, setting up camps and scaring off the Mogmas from the area. According to Fi, 65% of the volcano is covered by lava, and that a large number of creatures thrive here in the heat, and flames. Eldin Volcano contains many steep hills that Link must dodge boulders while climbing, caves, and the underground. Also scattered across the volcano are Mogma and Bokoblin villages.

Later in the game, Link ventures back to the Eldin Volcano to complete Din's Silent Realm Trial. After completeing the trial, the way to the Volcano Summit is unlocked. Link finds Gorko who says pillars of flames are blocking the path to the Fire Sanctuary and to be turned off it requires that the frog statues above them get water from Empty Bottles. However one frog statue requires much more water, than the other statues. So Link goes to Lake Floria to Faron the Water Dragon to recieve the Water Dragon's Basin to turn off the pillar of flames blocking the entrance to the sanctuary. Link has to protect the Ancient Robot Scrapper who is carrying the Basin. From any enemies which are comprised of mostly Bokoblins and Moblins from harming him, until they reach the entrace to Fire Sanctuary. Once successful the entrance to the Fire Sanctuary is opened.

Later in the game Link visits the volcano for the third and final time. To locate and learn a part of The Song of the Hero from Eldin the Fire Dragon, but the Volcano erupts and Link is captured by Bokoblins who have took advantage of the eruption and took over the entire volcano. After meeting the Fire Dragon and learning the Song of the Hero the volcano calms down, and the Bokoblins dissapear from the area.

Bombs and Bomb Flowers are a key item to exploring this area, and are used to open up passages to other areas, and to find treasure. Also Link gains the Mogma Mitts white venturing through the volcano, which can be used to dig through dig holes where Link can dig up items and rupees.

There are two dungeons located in the Eldin Volcano region. One is the second dungeon the Earth Temple located at the near top of the Volcano. While another is the sixth dungeon Link visits Fire Sanctuary which is located in the summit of the volcano.

Trivia

  • The name Eldin comes from a province in Twilight Princess called the Eldin Province. Like Eldin Province's Death Mountain, the Eldin Volcano also has a dungeon located near its summit, in this case, the Fire Sanctuary.
  • Many speculate Eldin Volcano to be the same mountain as Death Mountain, and became known as Death Mountain in the future.
