Multiple edits

Hello! I noticed you've been making a lot of edits to the same page over a short time. Doing this puts a large strain on our server and clogs up the recent changes. So instead of saving a lot, use the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button. It'll allow you to view your edit for any mistakes so you don't have to make a lot of fixing edits or additional ones! :) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 13:16, 6 December 2011 (EST)

Hi there! In response to your edit summary ("Just one final edit I think this page is in its final version for now until we list goddess cube Embyr should we like not edit anymore"): I didn't mean to insinuate that you shouldn't continue editing - to the contrary, your edits are invaluable and what make this wiki work! Please feel free to continue expanding the articles. What I did mean to say was that rather than save several small edits in a row (for example, you edited to Ancient Cistern article four times in a row in just ten minutes), it would be best if users tried to make more "lump" contributions, that is, add as much information as possible and use the "Show preview" button to check for errors before saving, rather than saving, seeing a mistake, and having to go back and fix the article (perhaps several times). Hope that makes sense! Thanks for your contributions and keep up the good work!! =)
I just read your message on my Talk Page as I was writing this. =P In reply: we don't usually lock articles, as a wiki article is never truly "finished" - you never know when someone will come along and add an interesting fact or feature that others didn't notice or forgot about! I'll take a look at the other articles you mentioned when I have sufficient time. Again, we really appreciate your contributions and look forward to any information you'd like to share in the form of new articles or additions to existing ones. =) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:43, 6 December 2011 (EST)
Hey, it's me again! Just another friendly reminder to try to minimize the number of times you hit that save button! =) You edited the Golo page a significant number of times over a short period a moment ago. Don't worry too terribly much about it, that happens to everyone, but try to keep in mind that saving multiple times like that is more of a strain on the staff and server than not, so make an effort to use that Show preview button to check for errors or additional information first! =) Thanks!!! Hi! I replied to your comment on my talk page. We usually try to keep conversations on one page at a time, so all the information is in one place. =) See you around! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 20:59, 12 December 2011 (EST)

Citation templates

Hi again!! I've noticed you've been adding some in-game references recently. I'm a huge advocate of referencing as much as possible, so I approve! =D When writing a reference for an in-game quote, use the {{Cite}} template rather than attempting to format the quote yourself. (See this page for more info.) It keeps all the references on the wiki consistent where formatting is concerned and minimizes confusion for new users. As always, drop a line here or on my talk page if you have questions and keep up the good work! =) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 18:41, 15 December 2011 (EST)

So I would use the cite template around the quote instead of " ? I just learned how to referece and I went to a lto of the articles that said no cititains or refs and since I really don't feel like going on my game to look I usually will watch this High Quality Let's Play and pause to get the ref. Also when we do a reference does it have to be the whole line the character says or can it jsut be a certain part of the dioloage, Finally I was going to make a page on the Waterfall location in SS(I know they actually named the cave in Skyloft Waterfall, but a page already exists with disabugation and I dont wanna add a location and have disabugation content on the same page, so is there anyway we could have a seperate page for the location Waterfall and change the name of the present disbugation page to Disbugation: Waterfall or something, and thanks for the help master (bows) XXSuperXXNintendoXx 19:00, 15 December 2011 (EST)
Yo! Yes, you're absolutely correct. Instead of using quotation marks and such, you can format in-game quotes like this:
<ref>{{Cite|QUOTE GOES HERE|name of person who said it here|game}}</ref>
Note that you can use abbreviations for the game instead of writing the whole game out, and it will format it as a link to the proper game automatically. For example, if it's from Ocarina of Time, you can add OOT as the game. If it's from Skyward Sword, you can add SS. You can use just a line from the quote if you like. No need to cite a whole paragraph unnecessarily. You can also use text dumps to find lines if you like, but if you haven't beaten the game yet you might not want to since it contains ALL the lines from the game, and you might read spoilers by accident!
Lastly, the Waterfall article is currently a disambiguation. If I'm not utterly mistaken, the sign beside the entrance to the cave actually calls it the "Waterfall Cave" instead of just "Waterfall," so that might be an agreeable alternative! Otherwise, the disambiguation would have to be moved. I noticed you put a notice about it on the Waterfall talk page, so I'm sure it'll be dealt with soon either way. Happy editing!! =) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:18, 15 December 2011 (EST)

Grammar and stuff

Yo! I noticed the comment you left on Embyr's talk page, and I just wanted to say something about that. While we do appreciate that you're putting in an effort to write with good grammar, don't worry too much about it...that's what we, the patrollers and admins, are for! :) As long as the content is there (which you do a very good job of writing, may I say!), then the rest is easy business for us. ;) So don't fret too much about commas and such...you'll eventually get the hang of it. :D Keep up the great work!!! Dany36 20:07, 28 December 2011 (EST)

Aww... thanks! I'll try not to worry as much(will still try to have good grammer with the best of my ability though), and thanks for the compliment on my writing, I love to put time in my work. Also, I think someone needs to update the SS Nav Map(if I did let's just say things wouldnt be too pretty!) Hoping your having a good Christmas Break/Vacation/ or holiday. XXSuperXXNintendoXx 20:12, 28 December 2011 (EST)

Hey, I have a question. Normally, when I reference stuff I watch a let's play and will pause at the quote I want to cite and repeat so, till I have the full quote. However, I hear a lot of people talk about Text Dumps, which is like a list of every single quote in a said game(including other info). Since, you're an admin what would you reccomend as the way to go when referencing or citing quotes. Also, someone seemed to blank the Link page last night, I undoed their edit, but I just wanted to inform you. XXSuperXXNintendoXx 13:13, 29 December 2011 (EST)

You know, I was wondering how you were referencing things! I assumed you had the text dump (that's what I use), but I see I was wrong. Yes, one of the admins here gave me the text dump when it was leaked, so I'll gladly give it to you! I'll upload it to a website and give you the link once it's done. It is separated into six parts, but in a way that's better because it's easier to look for stuff. ;)
Also, thanks for reverting that edit. I'm guessing that person did it on accident because they hadn't vandalized before, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. :P Anyway, I'm uploading the text dump, so I'll let you know! Dany36 13:52, 29 December 2011 (EST)
Here you go: download link. Dany36 13:56, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Skype chat

Hey! I really like some of the work you've done recently. By the way, we have a Zelda Wiki chat on Skype. I was wondering if you'd be interested in joining. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your work! Happy editing! Dany36 21:07, 31 December 2011 (EST)

Thank you, and sure I would love to...(does it require webcam or is it like a chat on Skype) furthermore I don't have a Skype should my username be the one I use here? XXSuperXXNintendoXx 21:44, 31 December 2011 (EST)

It's just a chat, nothing that requires the use of a webcam. :) If you wanna join, downloading Skype is really easy (we have a link to it in our Skype page). Creating the same username you have here is not necessary, just whichever you use. Once you're all set up, feel free to add me under my username of danythedot...I'll add you to the skype chat afterwards! :) See you there! Dany36 21:58, 31 December 2011 (EST)

Editing your page

Hello; I apologize about editing your page earlier. I thought it was probably a bad idea and this may be one, too (you can just delete this from your talk page if you wish). However, I just want you to realize that I did it to get "The Deep Woods" off of the "Wanted Pages" list. Now that you undid the edit, "The Deep Woods" is once again on that list, so I think it would be better if you removed it because the "Deep Woods" link does the job. Just letting you know! (Ezluke 21:58, 12 December 2012 (EST))

Ahh, I'm not mad its fine... I kept it their to show my noobness XXSuperXXNintendoXx 22:00, 12 January 2012 (EST)

The Green Potion page

I'm sorry I didn't leave a reason for undoing your edit, but I don't know how to do that except by putting it in the same field that contains the note that an edit was undone, and there wasn't enough space left to say much of anything. Anyway, here's my reason: The "fixes" you added don't actually fix anything. The bits you added to the description at the top just make that sentence ungrammatical, while your edits farther down move the word "from" for no grammatical reason and add an unnecessary comma. I know grammar can be a pain, and I don't want to come off as a jerk here, but you have to be willing to allow people to correct grammatical errors. Regardless, please tell me if there is a way to tell people why I'm undoing their edits that doesn't conflict with the "edit was undone" notice. I'm new at this.--Osteoderm Jacket 23:26, 13 January 2012 (EST)

Hmm, its fine, just remember don't undo the edit, if you can fix it without getting rid of everything do it that way. You just put the reason for undoing the edit, in the summary after the the notice, like any old edit. I really did like your article btw, cya around. XXSuperXXNintendoXx 23:35, 13 January 2012 (EST)

Rebonack info on Iron Knuckle page

Rebonack has already a page, the information are already there. Itachou 16:16, 1 February 2012 (EST)

Can you explain me the usefulness of having a duplicate information from one page to another, especially for a boss. Dangoro, a Goron acting as a mini-boss in Twilight Princess has not a particular section in the Goron page for example, he is just mentioned, and those who want more information simply click on the link for his page. Itachou 17:29, 1 February 2012 (EST)

Look at the Mogma Page, and it isn't mentioned in the Goron page because the Goron Page is large enough. It is also user friendly, it would be better to make them not exactly the same in words, I agree. However, it seemed to work on that page for ages. Rebonack is an Iron Knuckle, if I remember correctly or a member of the Iron Knuckle's, we do this for a lot of pages as well. I'm fine with all the non-canon stuff staying on the Rebonack page, but maybe we can find a compromise? XXSuperXXNintendoXx 18:58, 1 February 2012 (EST)

It seemed to work on that page for ages because Rebonack didn't have his own page before, but anyway it isn't a reason, things can change some time or another for better organization. Mogma page is really short compared to the Iron Knuckle page and act as a nice listing since all of them have a specific name, which is not the case for the Iron Knuckles.
I don't want to be disagreeable but he is already mentioned in the intro with Nabooru, like the Stalfos page mention Igos du Ikana, Skull Keeta, Captain, Master Stalfos, Captain Stalfos and Stallord. A page like that in my opinion is for the standard enemy with the mention of notable specimens in the intro. If you want, I agree to add more details about him in the intro but that's it. What do you think? Itachou 08:43, 2 February 2012 (EST)

Your edits to Death Mountain (Four Swords)

Hi there. I thought I'd take an opportunity to explain my actions regarding your recent edit to Death Mountain (Four Swords). I did what I did because, as far as I could tell, nothing you'd added to the text added any actual new information to the page, and you turned sentences whose grammar was already correct into ones with grammatical errors. (Except changing "symbols" to "symbol", for which I thank you.) For the most part, your edit just added redundant words to the text. I'm sorry if I responded rudely. The thing is, calling an edit "fixes" when you aren't adding any new content and are "correcting" grammar to something incorrect strikes me as rude. It's OK to make grammatical errors and to not be sure about grammatical rules, but whether or not you intend it that way (I assume you didn't), it comes off as arrogant to act like you know better about grammar or other aspects of prose when you aren't completely sure what's correct. That is what the word "fixes" implies, and that is why I responded the way I did. Does this make sense?--Osteoderm Jacket 21:16, 14 February 2012 (EST)

Sorry for a late reply, school. I do agree with some of the stuff that you reverted of my edit, and thank you for keeping some of the changes in there. Regarding redundancy, most of the time its just adjetives in order to better describe the setting, but in other cases, its just a word added in. Also, I am known for my grammaterical errors(I'm working on commas, as we speak!), but most of the time, the staff fixes it and I don't really worry if its a minor grammer error. Finally, I'm really sorry for lashing out at you, that was uncalled for and was a really immature thing for me to do. See you around! (I really like that enemy table on Death Mountain (Four Swords) XXSuperXXNintendoXx 17:03, 15 February 2012 (EST)

Quite all right, my good man. Again, I don't mind grammatical errors in and of themselves. Just be aware of how you're presenting your edit. See you around. --Osteoderm Jacket 17:25, 15 February 2012 (EST)

You da man

Your work on Yuga's article was excellent. Awesome job! Dekler (talk) 00:58, 2 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you so much, I love improving the wiki as much as possible and it means a lot to have your work praised by another user. Sadly, it's hard for me to edit the wiki as much as I used to due to school activities and also being an admin on Nookipedia. However, thank you still and I hope to see you in the future!--XXSuperXXNintendoXx (talk) 06:56, 5 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
