The Great Bridge of Hylia, also known as the Great Hylian Bridge, is a location featured in Twilight Princess and Link's Crossbow Training. It is a large bridge that spans Lake Hylia and is the largest in Hyrule, connecting the west and south sections of Hyrule Field.[1]
Appearances
Twilight Princess
In Twilight Princess, Link's first journey over the bridge is in his wolf form, in an attempt to reach Lake Hylia to gather Tears of Light for the Light Spirit, Lanayru. However, a Bulblin grunt sets the oil-coated bridge on fire, hindering Link's progression, and he is forced to jump off of the bridge into the depths of Lake Hylia below to continue his search for Tears of Light.
Link's second voyage over the bridge is in his human form, escorting a wagon, holding Ilia, Telma, and a mortally sick Prince Ralis to Kakariko Village for medical care since the Bridge of Eldin has been temporarily destroyed by Shadow Beasts.[2] Instead of fire, King Bulblin stands in Link's path, offering a jousting rematch of sorts, to redeem his defeat at the Bridge of Eldin earlier in the game. In defeating the Bulblin King as second time, Link is able to continue to Kakariko Village, and cross the bridge, now inhabited by Bokoblins and a flock of Guay forevermore.
The Great Bridge of Hylia is also home to both male and female species of golden mantis insects. The female mantis is located south of the bridge against the rock facade immediately after the bridge, while the male counterpart flies around the bridge overhang near its north side. Also, there is a hidden chest with an orange rupee on the north part of the bridge which Link can reach using the clawshot on a vine.
Link's Crossbow Training
The Great Bridge appears in a Defender Mode scenario in Stage 3 of Link's Crossbow Training. The camera angle is fixed with a view away from the actual bridge towards the surrounding countryside. Kargaroks will continously fly twoards Link and attack by spitting rocks. As with other Defender Mode stages, few additional point-giving objects can be found.
