Odolwa in-game appearance

The master of Woodfall Temple is Masked Jungle Warrior: Odolwa (密林仮面戦士オドルワ, Masked Jungle Warrior: Odoruwa) who has imprisoned one of the Four Giants, as well as the Deku Princess, within his temple. His body covered in swirling tattoos, he is a blade dancer with a sword roughly five times the size of Link himself. If Link is to prevail in his quest, then he must defeat Odolwa. Odolwa is also the culprit behind the sad state of Woodfall itself.

Strategy

Odolwa attacks mostly with his large sword. He has such a large range with it that even approaching from roughly 10 feet away will make one vulnerable to a hit from Odolwa's sword. The sheer size of Odolwa's shield also makes it difficult to score a hit, given that he will be obscured by the shield most of the time.

To defeat him, Link can just shoot Odolowa with his bow. If Odolwa isn't doing anything, he will block the attack with his shield. Link must try to shoot him when he is dancing and moving around. He will start to make a ring of fire, although this can be easily avoided just as long as the young hero does not run into the fire. Repeating this process will eventually lead to Odolwa's defeat.

Magic

Odolwa seems to have control over various bugs, as he will occasionally summon large insects that will follow their victim until their death. These bugs are excellent sources of health, however, and can be killed for extra hearts. He also summons a swarm of moths that will surround their victim and cannot be killed by normal means — only fire can kill them caused either by the ring of fire created by Odolwa himself, or the explosion of a Bomb. The moths are attracted to the Bomb's fuse. Interestingly, it's possible to dodge his moths completely by putting on the Deku Mask and turning into a Deku Scrub. The moths will just go over Link's head.

Weakness

He can also be harmed by the firing of a Deku Flower, of which there is one in his lair. Also located in his lair are several Bomb Flowers, which can also inflict serious damage, as can any other bomb or bomb-like object, such as the Blast Mask. He tries to prevent this by using an attack wherein he will extend his sword outward and begin spinning and moving around the room much like a top. This can be very difficult to avoid for the unprepared.

When he dies, he will relinquish his remains and the guardian giant will be freed. This giant will teach you the Oath to Order, the song which will call the Four Giants.
