"A Call from the Depths" is a Side Adventure in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

After draining the Water from the entrance to the Great Plateau, Link can find a small Bargainer Statue embedded in the ground. When examined, a Mysterious Voice speaks through the Statue, directing Link to speak to them at the Temple of Time Ruins.[2] Once there, the explains that draining the Water freed a portion of their self.[3] It then reveals that it originates from the Depths and is using the Temple of Time Statue to speak to him.[4] At this point in the conversation, "A Call from the Depths" will begin.

The Mysterious Voice tasks Link with finding its four Eyes at the Great Plateau's Chasms and throwing them into the Depths, after which Link must bring them to a location beneath the Temple of Time Ruins.[5] In return, it promises Link a reward.[6] The four Eyes are located at the Great Plateau North Chasm, the Great Plateau East Chasm, the Great Plateau South Chasm, and the Great Plateau West Chasm.

When Link brings an Eye to the source of the Mysterious Voice, he will find that it is the Great Abandoned Central Mine Bargainer Statue, which is located in a room under the Great Abandoned Central Mine. The Statue will express its gratitude toward Link.[7] It explains that its Eyes were stolen from it in ancient times, and it has been waiting since then for someone to hear it and help.[8] As a reward, the Great Abandoned Central Mine Bargainer Statue rewards Link with a choice of a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel, provided Link has not fully upgraded one or the other already.[9] After this, the Side Adventure will be completed, and Link will be able to speak with the Bargainer Statue again to expand its shop inventory and purchase items.[10]

Trivia

  • If Link attempts to bring the eyes too far from their original places on the Surface, such as to the incorrect Chasm, then they will disappear, and be returned to where he first found them, and the Mysterious Voice will inform him that its eyes cannot be moved too far from their resting places while on the Surface.[11]
  • If Link returns the eyes to the Great Abandoned Central Mine Bargainer Statue while at maximum Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels, he will instead receive a Gold Rupee as a reward with no special dialogue from the Bargainer Statue. However, it is not possible to achieve this through normal gameplay.
