Mighty Darknut
Habitat: Hyrule Castle
Spoil: Knight's Crest

These are Darknut captains. Some wear capes that must be burned or cut off before their armor straps can be cut.

Mighty Darknuts are captain-rank Darknuts that are stronger and more heavily-armored than other Darknuts.[2] All Mighty Darknuts are equipped with red capes, which must be destroyed before Link can attack the armor straps that hide underneath. Their capes can be burned away with a Fire Arrow, or sliced up with the Master Sword, though the latter method requires more than one slash.

Mighty Darknuts can first be found in the Master Sword's chamber inside Hyrule Castle, after Link returns with the Power to Repel Evil to find that Ganondorf has kidnapped Princess Zelda.[3] Two black Mighty Darknuts fall from the ceiling alcove and battle Link inside a ring of fire. In Ganon's Tower, two red Mighty Darknuts with differing headgear appear as Enemies at the top of the final stairway, guarding the door to Puppet Ganon's chamber. These Darknuts can be instantly disintegrated by using the freshly-acquired Light Arrows.

Trivia

  • Although the Nintendo Gallery mentions that only "some" wear capes,[2] only caped Darknuts are considered to be acceptable for a Mighty Darknut Figurine.
