Soal is a character in Twilight Princess.[2]

Soal is a boy who makes a little cash by polishing shoes on the streets of Castle Town. He can be found sitting outside Chudley's Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium in the central square, where he will offer to polish Link's boots for 10 Rupees.[3] This is necessary to be allowed to access the emporium.[4] Once the Emporium is purchased by Malo and transformed into Malo Mart, Link will no longer need to polish his boots to enter. However, Soal will remain outside the shop offering to clean Link's boots for the same price.

Soal is a play on the word "sole," the bottom surface of a shoe.

  3. "Hey, you! Your shoes are grimy! No matter how good your clothes look, you don't look pulled together if your shoes are dirty. If someone's checking you out, they'll look at your shoes too... I bet they didn't let you in that snooty shop, did they? What do you think? I polish 'em up real nice for 10 Rupees." — Soal (Twilight Princess)
  4. "Excuse me... I am terribly sorry, but... Well, having a costumer in the store with shoes as filthy as yours can make our other clients uncomfortable. We hope that you will come back once you have found some more-polished footwear." — Hylian (Twilight Princess)
