Game(s)
Quest Giver Kass
Location Hyrule Ridge
Reward Mijah Rokee Shrine

"Under a Red Moon" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

Link can find Kass playing his bandoneon and singing on a Dragonblood Tree on Washa's Bluff, which is located on Hyrule Ridge.[2] When Link speaks to him, he apologizes for the chance his song was rough on the ears.[3] However, when he recognizes Link, he congratulates him for climbing all the way up the Dragonblood.[4]

Kass informs Link that he knows an "Ancient Song" about the area,[5] which he offers to share with him.[6] If Link agrees to listen, Kass will then proceed to sing it for him.[7] The lyrics describe the Monks inviting the hero when the moon bleeds,[8] but only when he stands on the Pedestal wearing nothing.[9] After his song, Kass wonders what it means for the moon to bleed.[10] He wishes Link well on his journey,[11] and the Shrine Quest will begin.

During a Blood Moon, Link must stand on the Pedestal below the Dragonblood Tree with no Armor or Weapons equipped. Doing this will cause the Pedestal to activate, and Mijah Rokee Shrine will emerge from the ground.[12] Once the Ancient Shrine has been revealed, the Shrine Quest will be completed.

Trivia

  • This Shrine Quest is hinted at in Kass's Journal,[13] which is found in the hut behind him at the Quest's location. Within, Kass recounts that he has heard rumors about an "Ancient Song" on Washa's Bluff pertaining to the Blood Moon.[14] He remarks that little information is known about the cause and purpose of Blood Moons.[15]
