Not sure where to respond

I wasn't sure where I should respond to what you put on my talk page, so I put the response to why I believe the Rabbitland Rescue image is the one in the same as the one on Zeldapedia on my own talk page. --MrMime 15:33, 27 August 2010 (EDT)

Generally we try to keep discussions on a single page. It makes them easier to follow in archives.Emma (Talk) 19:36, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

I am wondering how does a user change what their prefences are on their page. As you can tell I am a newb for wiki editing. ironclad 13:30, 4 February 2011 (EST)

This user is a fan of Link
This user is a fan of Dark Link
this user is a fan of Zelda

Hello Matt I seem to be stuck in the forest temple of OoT if you can offer any help it would be greatly appreactated ironclad 13:27, 4 February 2011 (EST)

Quotes

I already asked this question to two users, but seeing as they're offline since some time ago, I thought I could ask you instead. I'm interested on writing quotes in the black-colored sections of my userpage; however, when I add one, the template eliminates the black color of the background whenever it's placed (it's the same thing that happens with the Contributor and Game Completion templates, hence why I had to add them at the start of the userpage). Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks in advance! --K2L (Interrogatory) 22:21, 17 November 2010 (EST)

More on signatures

Hi Matt, I now have a transcluded signature but I included parameters to allow other users to use it to their liking. --Myrtonos (forum pm) 01:43, 13 January 2011 (EST)

I have no clue how to do most of this stuff on this wiki but i would like to learn so can u help me and thanks in advance ironclad 13:28, 4 February 2011 (EST)

Hey, Matt. Sup?

I feel stupid asking this, and there's probably a way to find out for myself, but your page is the only page I can think of for an example of it, and you locked it ... Anyway, so you know how you have those quotes? How do I? (Example being right at the top of the page saying "How'd you like to marry Malon?") Thanks. ZENOX T C 19:46, 23 January 2011 (EST)

City in the Sky

Lately, I have been editing the Land articles to provide a bit of harmony. The next one, I think, is the City in the Sky, home of the Oocca. Being its article one of the Dungeon variety, I'm not very sure on how to edit it in accordance with the format of the other Land pages (Hyrule, Termina, Great Sea, etc.) without messing with the flow of the dungeon-based sections (entrance, themes and navigation, etc.). So I though I could ask for advice before editing it. --K2L (Interrogatory) 19:57, 7 February 2011 (EST)

Well, both the City and the City are talked about in the games as if they're great, large areas. But really we only get to see a small area. With the City in the Sky, it appears that what's in the dungeon is all there is to it though. So I guess we really don't have much choice than to treat it as a dungeon instead. Emma (Talk) 01:22, February 8, 2011 (UTC)
I guess that's correct (at least the Twilight Realm is known to have much more than just the palace, as well as a more detailed storyline). Thanks for the advice! --K2L (Interrogatory) 20:25, 7 February 2011 (EST)

Nintendo articles

Matt, I see you reverted my edits to the DSi and DSi XL articles. I don't know if you were aware, but I recently moved most of the content from the staff and systems categories over to NIWA's Nintendo Wiki. This was discussed among the staff a few months back and it was unanimously agreed that N-Wiki was the logical home for this information. I've long felt that these articles were mostly quite poor quality, so it makes sense to centralise them somewhere they can be actively worked on and improved for the benefit of all. All that I've kept here at ZW is information pertaining specifically to the Zelda series. Effectively it represents a minor change in ZW's de facto coverage policy, but since nothing about these type of general articles has ever been clearly stated before (as far as I'm aware) there was no written policy for me to actually change. Adam [ talk ] 03:12, 21 May 2011 (EDT)

There was some talk on Skype about it. The main problem is mostly that you used redirects to N-wiki. When short summary versions are more practical. And yes, I did look at the moved N Wiki content. You didn't look at what you were copying. Templates are used differently over there and it didn't cross over correctly. Such as on the 3DS page, which uses our new Ref template. The staff here didn't seem to think there wasn't any discussion on it at all either. They were confused. But regardless, there was some talk on the public NIWA forum and the public chat on NIWA some months ago agreeing that interwiki redirects were making more problems than they were worth. Things like difficulty to edit, bugs with special pages, inconvenience for users, etc. The talk in the public chat pretty much agreed that some sort of notice on the page directing people to the other wiki instead was preferable. Just a rule of thumb to go by, if you think it might be controversial, ask first. Publicly, where it can be seen. Also, actually conversing regularly with these people instead of ignoring them until it's convenient helps a lot too. Emma (Talk) 15:04, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah the staff had a discussion about it and we agreed, but I do believe the original plan was to leave the basic info here on the wiki and then place a "soft-redirect" to NWiki, not redirecting the whole page to it. I'm fine with the former, as that was the original plan anyway. Dany36 12:33, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
Yes, and like I said, moving off the info wasn't the issue. Just the redirects. I didn't remove all the info on the two pages in question in my first edits, because I intended to discuss what to remove with the others first, as I always do with things such as this.Emma (Talk) 17:04, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
If you want to stick with stub articles instead of redirects, that's fine. I don't see the logic in the case of these articles, but it's not important enough to merit arguing over. And none of the content needs to be kept; I copied it all word-for-word to N-Wiki, so everything but the intro and infobox can be removed. By the way as a measure of how important these pages are, counting stuff in the main namespace which isn't another system article, there are two articles which link to DSi and none which link to DSi XL. Adam [ talk ] 14:27, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
So, I'm gunna be the cog in the wheel here that says they think that the articles should be merged and then redirected over to N-Wiki. The only thing I was hesitant about was that if they were merged the actual content would be lost (some of the articles were pretty decent in sentence structure and vocabulary) but since they're being copied over I have no problem. But, if everyone wants stub articles with redirects, I don't really have a problem there either, but I think that's kinda pointless.Mandi Talk 18:48, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I think in the least, we should have one big page that deals with all the consoles and handheld releases, in short summaries of course, because the information is relevant. Just because we are partners with N-Wiki shouldn't mean that all of this information must go, we also exist as a wiki in our own right. Perhaps giving each console a separate page is a bit overkill; a nice, concise listing of all consoles relative to the Zelda series should suffice, and on that page there can be a single link to N-Wiki's console category page. Who's with me? ;) — ciprianotalk 22:38, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
Now that would be a good idea. --K2L (Interrogatory) 23:19, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, that sounds like a really good idea Cip; basically Category:Systems would become Nintendo Consoles, or something. I think you just volunteered for some merging ;p Adam [ talk ] 15:44, 22 May 2011 (EDT)

If you have some idea, Cip, of a good layout to have for this systems page, then go ahead. It'd be interesting to see what you make of it. It'd save us some trouble of repeated information, that's for sure. Like upgraded console versions and that. Wouldn't have to repeat info.Emma (Talk) 20:10, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, great! I'll begin work on it on Wednesday (its the only day I can really dedicate some time to a project like this and finish it), if anyone has some ideas for layouts or wants to provide input, I'm all ears! — ciprianotalk 00:49, 23 May 2011 (EDT)
