Website Affiliation

Sorry to bother you, but I'd like to (in the future) have my website become 'tied' to ZW.org and it says to email a sysop (which I'll do later). My website is under production and probably won't be open to the public in about a month. Would you give me advice on what you think of the website's name (I'll give it to you if you accept)? I'd prefer having a decent name than putting all my work into it and having it shot down. Pakkun 17:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

I'm sure he'll agree. It would be a good thing to get a new site on board. That'll make easier for you to get visitors. I'm no expert on names but I have some ideas. "The Triforce", "The Twilight Realm", "The Golden Land", "Temple of Light", "Temple of Time", "Temple of Twilight" I'm not sure if any of those are taken. Do any sound good to you?Emma (Talk) 17:18, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Hey there. I'm not Mases, but I have a suggestion. Because I hear Zeldapedia is changing their name, maybe you could use it after they change it. However, if you want your website tied to ZW, it should be well-known. Seablue 17:20, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Typically that is. But I don't think we'll discount the possibility your joining. So don't give up hope.Emma (Talk) 17:24, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
:o I'm not trying to be mean here, but maybe you should wait a month until your website is open. Seablue 17:26, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Exactly. It is not a no, it is a maybe later. Get an identity. If you like, you can use any of the names I listed. Whether or not you join right away, we'll will still make an article on your site for you so you can still get traffic from here. Good luck with your site. Emma (Talk) 17:30, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Yes, good luck! Seablue 17:31, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Seablue, do you mean wait until a month after it's opened to the public or wait a month before I open it to the public. Anyway, I was kinda going for something with 'twilight' in it, so 'the twilight realm' and 'temple of twilight' would be nice. Anyway, I'm patient, so I don't care how long it takes. Also, I don't want a 'pedia' exactly, and using Zeldapedia would kinda fall under false advertisement or something (although it might boost my site's attendance...). Pakkun 17:42, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

My suggestion is to wait a month, so when it opens, you can actually have a community of who may join the wiki. Also, my title means nothing. Seablue 17:46, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

True. But it is really up to Masses. He comes around every few days. I thought that the Temple of Twilight was awesome when I came up with it on the spot. It would be great for you to use it. I don't think I've heard it before so it'll really give your site a unique identity.Emma (Talk) 17:48, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

Temple of Twilight Google Search. The top result links to a German website named www.temple-of-twilight.com. Luckily, the website has nothing to do with Zelda. The other results aren't even named Temple of Twilight. I reccommend your site shouldn't be Temple of Twilight though, because The German site has a Copyright on the name. UPDATE: Only Copyright 2002. Make you rite www.templeoftwilight.com/org/net Seablue 17:56, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Crap. Dungeon of Twilight then?Emma (Talk) 18:01, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Wait. It is foreign and in another language about something else. Perhaps you can negotiate? Or use "Twilight Temple".Emma (Talk) 18:03, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks ( but I like Temple of Twilight... I also like Twilight Temple). Also, I see your point, Seablue (I also survived the attack of your Userboxes). Um... I am going to wait about a month or two before releasing it. (Hopefully, I can raise enough money to get a domain name and Microsoft Frontpage to make it look nice.) To let people who are interested know, I'm going to use www.freewebs.com for it so the website would be entered as: twilighttemple.webs.com instead of twilighttemple.com (or whatever), until I can afford a domain name or Paypal so that some people (not a hint) can donate. Anyway, we should move this to my talk page as this is probably going to be annoying for Mases. Pakkun 18:08, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
I made a space on my talk page. Pakkun 18:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

O noes. I'm afraid that Jason has said that we don't let random freewebs websites join. You have to be well known. Seablue 18:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Random as in? I run a fairly nice Pokémon (sorry) website, I'm more experienced at freewebs.com websites but if I can't be a part, then I'll have to either quit or become 'well known' with a domain name. Pakkun 18:16, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
Anyway, like I said, we should continue this on my talk page (Mases probably will have to delete this conversation anyway). Pakkun 18:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

Don't get discouraged. It is really up to them to decide. They might just do it anyway. We'll have to wait and see. No add anything else to this. I'll move it.Emma (Talk) 18:19, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

The standards for becoming a site attached to the Wiki have settled a bit since I joined. It really is quite lenient as to what sites we will accept but we all talk it over and make a decision. As long as your site has desire and ambition, I'm sure you'll be able to make it. Just work on it for a few weeks and then give another request to join and we'll go from there. As for a name, it's very stereotypical... but I'd go with Zelda ______. Zelda Anything really, strictly because it is better in searches, if the site does ever get to become of moderate size. Mases 15:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Website

We should continue talking here. Pakkun 18:10, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]

Okay start.Emma (Talk) 18:22, June 23, 2008 (UTC)
I think I'll use this one. Um... I highly doubt that a beurocratic society with almost no knowledge of somebody would let me into their group with a freewebs name. Se la vie. Pakkun 18:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
Maybe with a couple years of hanging around ZW.org and having 'friends' (put it there because making aquantinces also counts) would help my case, though I think that this would be bending the rules to a very strong exstent. (my spelling's bad today) Pakkun 18:28, 23 June 2008 (UTC)PakkunReply[reply]
Okay, dude, you need to stop. This, "OMC I may not be getting into the tied ZW sites so i better act depressed so that they see that i should be in this thing" has got to stop. Everywhere I see you talk, you seem depressed you don't have a shot. However, this is wrong. If you ask me, you have a great shot because you actually care and want to try. Yes, I stated that you probably get your random freeweb website into ZW, but thats because it's not very well known. In fact, it's unknown because it's not even out yet. However, you actually decided that you would make an actual domain and that the freewebs site is just to start off. That seems to be a step in the right direction. Don't think because you may not get in now means you will never get in. Just look at all these websites. Now any one of hem could get in without having to start off first. In fact, most of these websites have not been in the callaboration longer than they have. Hopefully, this won't discourage you. The only reason I am writing is because I want you in. But this attitude is fighting against you. Every where you edit, it seems that you're unhappy, hence this message. Please, please think this over. You have a great shot of getting in, do don't be so bummed out. :). (Note: Ando, I do not intend for this to be a mean, uncalled for message. I stated that I hope it encourages him/her. Please don't ban me.) Seablue 23:35, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Zeldainformer got in here not too long after its startup. Don't be daunted by the task. We already know your plans. Now you can go make this happen. Once you are able to go from freewebs to your own domain, then make sure to come back and tell us! We will then put it under serious consideration. For now though, you've got to focus on getting your site up. That comes first. Once your esablished, then joining this wiki is more practical.Emma (Talk) 23:42, June 23, 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know... All you need to do to sign your posts is type four tildes (~~~~). You do not need to type your name at all.Emma (Talk) 21:55, September 21, 2008 (UTC)

Really? I don't think that's the way it was on Bulbapedia...

Anyway, thanks!Pakkun 22:56, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nah. I've been on Bulbapedia. It was just like it is here. It is the same software.Emma (Talk) 22:58, September 21, 2008 (UTC)
On BP, you could do little things like this: [tt|You could|do this] and it'd make a little bar with yellow that says something else when you put your mouse over the text. But this is essentially the same.Pakkun 23:13, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Userpage Images

Hey, you seem to be having some problems with displaying images on your userpage. You based your coding off of my format, so I was wondering if you wanted some help. Have a good one! Alter  {T C B H } 02:36, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

Japanese names

Hello!! I've seen here that Sluggula is named "Nuranur" in italian and "Naranul" in spanish. As you seems to know a lot about japanese versions, can you tell me if its japanese name is Nuranuru? Jeangabin 20:46, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm sorry, I just translate it. I don't have the katakana for it. (But it seems likely...) - TonyT S C 21:14, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi! Could you tell me if 豪炎 and デグフレイム mean the same thing?? Jeangabin 00:34, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Uh... From what I can tell, 豪炎 reads as era honō (meaning Great Flame/Blaze) and デグフレイム reads as degufureimu, Degree Flame. So technically, no. - TonyT S C 15:08, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok! Hum, not exactly the same meaning. Sweet thanks Pakkun. Jeangabin 17:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh yes.. I've also noted that degu ("デグ") is often used in Zelda boss' name in Japanese and its often translated to as "big" or "great"?! Jeangabin 18:07, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I didn't know that... Thanks for pointing that out. - TonyT S C 18:19, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah! Those bosses are the A Link to the Past Moldorm, the Four Swords Manhandla, King Bubble, Hot Head, Slime Eyes, Armos Knight, Deku Toad, and all the Deku-related things.
And what does ナック means exactly? Sometimes you translate it Nut and sometimes Knuckle!!? Jeangabin 16:27, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just forgot to move the katakana down. It's fixed. - TonyT S C 16:34, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

???

What were you trying to say? Supermariosuperfan 20:05, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

WOW!

Pakkun, thanks for helping us out with the translation tables, especially on the Majora's Mask page. Grueling work, I bet, but it looks great! ;) — ciprianotalk 17:39, 13 November 2010 (EST)

Oh, yeah. Thanks. There's more to come, though. - TonyT S C 01:59, 14 November 2010 (EST)

Translations

Hey Pakkun,

I've noticed you've taken interest in translation work around the wiki. It's something we both have in common. Right this moment I'm working on a translation project that covers every Oracle of Ages article (with Oracle of Seasons soon to follow). You can find the translation table in my Sandbox.

Admittedly, the difference between you and I is that you actually understand Hiragana and Katakana, whereas I just get by with text dumps and translators. And since I can't find any text dumps for the Oracle games, I have to rely on a FAQ, which is great but not always reliable. As such, I fear some of the information I submit might not be accurate 100% of the time. I was wondering if maybe you could help me out with this. I won't ask you to chase me around and fix my mistakes on my translation edits, but it'd be great if you could just look over my OoA project and tell me if you see anything out of order. And if you wanted to help out by adding some translations yourself, that would be great too!

It's just an idea I'm putting out there. If you aren't interested, I completely understand. By no means should you feel like you're obliged to do anything you don't want to.

If you are interested, great! I'd love to have you on board. I could sure use your help! — Hylian King [*] 10:19, 14 November 2010 (EST)

With sprites as well? Pretty ambitious. Of course I'll help. Though, it might be best to talk over Skype, if you have it. - TonyT S C 19:12, 14 November 2010 (EST)
Great! Your help will be much appreciated. Sadly, I do not have Skype and honestly don't have much interest in trying it. :P Feel free to spam my talk page though. In case you wanted to know, you can find the FAQ I'm using here. — Hylian King [*] 16:40, 16 November 2010 (EST)

Adding Japanese Names

Just wanted to let you know that we have this new template for Japanese names now that's much more manageable than Exp.

Welcome back! — Hylian King [*] 19:34, 21 June 2011 (EDT)

Ah, okay. I'll go back and fix them then. - TonyT S C 19:42, 21 June 2011 (EDT)

Plural Links

Hello again, Pakkun. (By now, you're probably thinking: "Ugh, what does he want this time!")

Just dropping in to let you know that when making plural links, it's preferable to leave the "s" (or whatever else it may be) out of the link (instead of pipe-linking every plural link) since MediaWiki software is capable of absorbing the "s" into the link. So for example, to get "Rupees", it's preferable to write [[Rupee]]s instead of [[Rupee]]s. Minor adjustments like you made in this edit are unnecessary and even unwanted; all they do is clog up the text a little. :P I don't know if that's the first time you've done that or if you've been doing that for a while; if it's the latter, you don't need to go back and fix all of them. It's not that big a deal.

Besides that you're doing great. Your contributions are much appreciated! (Though I suppose you don't need me to tell you that!) Really, I don't know how you can do such repetitive work for so long... I find it really quite admirable, actually...

Anyways, that's it! I'm done bothering you... for now... — Hylian King [*] 21:07, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

Oh, sorry. I'll refrain from now on. - TonyT S C 21:26, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

Private Oasis

There must be a way to emphasise the fact that the island's name changes to reflect your character's name without breaking the "rules". Maybe by simply putting in brackets something like "the actual name depends on the name entered". If it simply says "It becomes Link's Oasis" then it's unclear, and doesn't convey the facts. As I say, there must be some way to word it so it's acceptable while not being misleading. Avengah 19:16, 6 September 2011 (EDT)

Developer quotes page

Hi. I wanted to make an edit in the timeline quotes page but I'm not an autoconfirmed user yet. This is what I wanted to add in the TP section: It should be noted that the part where Aonuma refers to how much time passed between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess might have been mistranslated, and that he probably spoke of "hundreds of years" , ..

I'd like to ask you to make the edit instead! Change it as you see fit of course. Zeldafan1982 16:09, 2 October 2011 (EDT)

Nice find! I'm not entirely sure how it should be handled, but I added it. - TonyT S C 17:08, 2 October 2011 (EDT)
Thanks! :)

Translating help

Could you possible search the Official Skyward Sword Site? The Japanese one that is. You're the only person on this wiki that I know of who could search for the information I need. Thanks in advance. Steahl 23:03, 12 November 2011 (EST)

Yeah, I've been doing that for a while. What do you need? - TonyT S C 23:25, 12 November 2011 (EST)
Well as we both know the Japanese website has more information than the rest and almost all the references I get are from these websites. Knowing that they are so full of information it would be nice if the wiki could get access to some information that wouldn't otherwise be accessable to the western world for a little while. I would like it if you could check the locations, features, items et cetera if possible. Sorry that the link I gave you isn't working. Oh yeah and thank you :) Steahl 00:48, 13 November 2011 (EST)
Right... Well, the English site is basically just a translation of what can be found on the Japanese site, so I'll just work on the Thunderhead and new Skyloft information. I'm not sure how long it will take, considering there's 7 new bits of information. The English site may even update before I'm finished, but I'll do what I can. - TonyT S C 01:29, 13 November 2011 (EST)
I've translated the Thunderhead information:
  • The cloud around Thunderhead is known as 積乱雲 (Cumulonimbus). The site just says it recently appeared near Skyloft and the thick clouds make it difficult to see.
  • The island of Thunderhead itself is, apparently known as 詩島 (Poetry Island)... Apparently, this is where Hylia ("The Goddess") "left", and it seems to be housing a secret. I'm really not certain about the Goddess bit, the Japanese text says "ここは、女神が遺したと言われる島。" but that's the best I can make of it.
  • Levias is a wise Sky Spirit (not too much of a departure from "Wind Fish") who watched over the skies since ancient times and is knowledgeable about everything ("like a walking dictionary").
Right now, I'm thinking Thunderhead just refers to the billowing clouds and the island is actually Poetry Island. - TonyT S C 02:41, 13 November 2011 (EST)
And now, the Skyloft bit...
  • Pumpkin Island (パンプキン島 (Panpukin Shima)) is an island near Skyloft that holds the Pumpkin Bar (パンプキンバー (Panpukin Bā)) where Birdriders can rest and buy Pumpkin Soup (かぼちゃのスープ (Kabocha no Sūpu)). (As a side note, the Pumpkin Bar resembles an actual pumpkin and a Piece of Heart rests on top of the chandelier inside and there's a stage where Link can play the Goddess Harp for its inhabitants. The island features a pumpkin patch.)
  • Gratitude (感謝の気持ち (Kansha no Kimochi)); basically, when Link grants people's wishes by helping them in sidequests, they give him "gratitude", which look like Star Bits. From what I gather, there's a sidequest where you're supposed to help tend to a woman's brown Loftwing. And, as already revealed in a video, you help clean a woman's house using the Gust Bellows.
  • Beedle's Shop (テリーのお店 (Terī no Omise)); It's an "airship" peddled by Beedle that floats over Skyloft. It contains merchandise that cannot be found in the Skyloft Bazaar. (Link gets the Bug Catching Net here.)
  • "Skyloft at Night" (スカイロフトの夜 (Sukairofuto no Yoru)); what it's saying is that Skyloft has different features and Link can sleep in his bed either day or night.
So there you go. I went ahead and put some of the information into the appropriate pages. - TonyT S C 04:37, 13 November 2011 (EST)

Thanks dude, now we have the information that Japan, thanks to you :) Steahl 09:42, 13 November 2011 (EST)

Batreaux Alien article

I just noticed Batreaux appears on non-zelda games. That was true on that article. I know Men in Black is a non-zelda game but i'm sure that alien appears on those movies. I'm also sure hes been a demon and an alien for like 14 years. I wondered if you could look at this article on the Alien Species wiki here. It may tell you about him and his appearences.--Brandondorf9999 21:39, 14 November 2011 (EST)

I'm going to point out that I have read an interview where they discuss Batreaux and his conception. Upon further investigation, I had found nothing supporting your claim, and, only your weak source states that such a character exists. Furthermore, there was nothing about Mikey having a father, just that he was a fugitive alien. I have growing suspicions that it's only you purporting your ridiculous claim, especially considering your source is only 2 days old and frankly the writing style is all too similar to your own.
Back to the interview, Daiki Iwamoto is the one who designed him. If they did indeed take him from MIB, there would be a whole slew of red tape involving copyright disputes, and a cheap shoutout to an American movie in Japan would not be worth that. So, honestly, given that only one contentious source claims Mikey has a father named Batreaux, no, it's likely not from Men in Black.
Now, if I've missed something, feel free to correct me. - TonyT S C 02:31, 15 November 2011 (EST)
How would you know Daiki Iwamoto desinged that alien?--Brandondorf9999 23:43, 15 November 2011 (EST)
I know that Iwamoto designed the demon because the official interview says so, of course. - TonyT S C 00:21, 16 November 2011 (EST)

Patrol

Hello there, Pakkun. The staff have decided to promote you to the position of Patroller because of your consistent edits and great contributions to the wiki. As a patroller, you'll have to review other's edits and fix them if necessary. I know you've been doing this for a while already, but now you've got new tools to do this. If you want more information, you can check out this guide or ask one of the patrollers on their talk pages or on Skype. Keep up the good work :) — Abdul [T] [C] [S]  04:26, 20 November 2011 (EST)

Wow, thanks. I'll try not to squander it. - TonyT S C 08:59, 20 November 2011 (EST)

Well Excuuuuse me.

I thought a talk page was where you can input theories and such to get analyzed by other. It's not MY fault it was my first time using one. And seriously, was it neccessary to be rude? Just because I'm new doesn't mean I don't have feelings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KiwiLink (talk) 16:45, December 4, 2011

I wasn't discriminating against you based on whether you were new or not, although I admit I didn't take well to your zeal, which was a fault on my part. As the notice itself stated, talk pages are for improving the article, rather than the subject itself and you were discussing whether or not Midna loved Link, so I added the off-topic notice. At the point she had said that quote, she hadn't undergone any character development, so I'm certain she was only being her snarky self.
Talk pages really aren't a place for theories of that sort, so that's why I added the off-topic template. I had analyzed and deemed your theory as "bogus" based on the context, so please don't think you were personally targeted. Well-received and commonly-accepted theories occasionally do end up on pages here, so if you would like to discuss that theory, I recommend sharing it first with any of the Masterminds' forums and see how it fares there. Frankly, I don't believe that your theory will go very far here though, particularly because it's based on their romance, which will forever be subjective because the developers have always (with one exception) shied from giving Link an entirely canon love interest. - TonyT S C 22:26, 4 December 2011 (EST)
If I may, just wanted to say that you should take this as a learning experience, and in the future, please approach members of the staff with whom you disagree for clarification rather than being defensive. New or not, you can easily read our policies, and I don't think they are unclear. I hope to see you editing around Zelda Wiki a lot in the future - feel free to always ask questions if you are unsure! :) --Xizor 22:37, 4 December 2011 (EST)

Skyward Sword: Dowsing

Hello Pakkun

Regarding the Dowsing ability page for the Skyward Sword game. I made an entry and it was deleted because I needed to write in-universe. I don't care that it was deleted, I didn't write in universe and apparently that's a rule I broke, but I don't know what in-universe means.

What I *really* care about is if you could help me complete the Dowsing page so that other people can get the info. You see this is the best Zelda wiki I've seen, and I just want to help people & spread the info. I don't even care about credit (hell, I found this info from elsewhere to begin with) but I just want people to be able to quickly & easily find out how to get more dowsing targets.

Could you complete the entry for me, with the below info, with that in-universe speak (whatever that is)?

To gain dowsing targets, certain conditions must be met. Dowsing targets in the left, up, or right do not require Link to have the powered up his sword with Naryu's flame, but the rest of the Dowsing targets do.

Dowsing targets TOP: Story related, cannot miss TOP-RIGHT: Treasures, upgrade a few items at Gondo's scrap shop (can upgrade items you don't intend to keep to trigger this as well) RIGHT: Hearts/Heart Flowers, when your health is low enough that Fi will give you a warning about your health, Fi may offer to have your sword dowse for hearts as a target BOTTOM-RIGHT: Goddess-Cubes, talk to Gorko (the Goron archeologist) at the Eldin volcano summit after you have cleared the third spirit trial. BOTTOM: Free-look, which allows you to look without dowsing. No requirement necessary, unlocked as soon as you learn dowsing. BOTTOM-LEFT: Gratitude Crystals (the single kind, not the 5-pack you get from helping a person's quest). Speak to Batreaux again, before retrieving all Gratitude Crystals, and before you leave room Fi will add Gratitude Crystals as a dowsing target. LEFT: Fetch-Quest items people request to be rewarded a 5-pack of gratitude crystals. Only one of these Fetch-Quest items may be targeted for dowsing, and you must speak to the person requesting the fetch-quest item first before it will appear as a dowsing target. TOP-LEFT: Rupees (including rupees in treasure chests or structures you roll into to knock money out of- such as trees). Speak to the Mogma located in this picture, inside the underground area of the Eldin Volcano. URL is "http://twitpic.com/7vc9lp/full" but if you could find a way to upload this picture directly into the Wiki, that would be awesome.

Thank you. Queazy 07:33, 19 December 2011 (EST)Queazy

Yes, I can help improve the Dowsing article. As an aside, keep in mind that we have several editing standards, and I don't think your image is appropriate. We can just as easily describe where to find the Mogma, Nackle. - TonyT S C 18:25, 22 December 2011 (EST)

A Link to the Past translations

I remember that a while ago, when I added the German translations to the Twilight Princess Translatons page, which was at that time pretty unorganized, you completely revamped it making it look pretty neat. Now I wanted to add the German translations for ALttP here The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Translations and noticed that the page is pretty far away from being orderly, so I would like to ask you to help organizing the page with adding tables and images and adding categories such as Bosses or other secondary characters, as I'm not that good with editing and not very familiair wth the Englisch version. I would appreciate it very much, if you could take some of your time to help. SkullJ 23:03, 30 December 2011 (EST)

I went ahead and fixed up the table formatting myself, so that's a start. ;) — Hylian King [*] 08:51, 31 December 2011 (EST)
I Thank's man ;) SkullJ 12:54, 31 December 2011 (EST)
Sorry for the late reply, but it looks like you two have handled most of it already! I guess I'll work where I can, though. :) - TonyT S C 09:54, 4 January 2012 (EST)

Altered images

Hi Pakkun. I was just wondering where exactly the difference is between this image and that image. In both cases, all I did was removing the background of an official artwork. Removing the background itself qualifies the image for being altered, so if you're being that literal you would have to take care of all the images in the Character and Enemy sections. So I don't understand why it shouldn't be used in that way, when all the other images are. Bakeneko 00:45, 5 February 2012 (EST)

Ah, yes. As per the quality standards, removal of white backgrounds from pictures is acceptable (encouraged, even). However, that is in the case of images without deliberately artistic backgrounds. In other words, if the image was created without a background, then it is acceptable to add transparency to it. However, as the Deku Tree image was created with the background, it becomes a fan-derivative work if the background is removed. Your image is very good, so I decided to move it to the gallery section, where we are more lenient about edited pieces. However, because it technically isn't an acceptable substitute for the original, it can't be treated as an official image, so it can't be placed in the infobox or used in the original image's place. Hope this helps. :) - TonyT S C 02:05, 5 February 2012 (EST)
Well, it's still not clear. I think the guidelines regarding original images you guys have here are a little bit ambiguous and you are also a little bit too picky about it. The majority of the images I edited so far didn't have a solid background but rather an artistic one. This also holds true for the image potraying Zelda in The Minish Cap which I linked earlier. However, no one cared about those images. And I'm sure there are already alot of images on the Wiki which had there background removed, although it was artistic. Anyways, I'm not here to argue about whether an image has been altered or not. There is no sense in that and it would also be a waste of time. Just let me tell you, that I removed the background for the Deku Tree image, because I thought it would be nice to have all images in Character and Enemy sections with a transparent background. But now it seems that I would need a completely different image to achieve this goal. Bakeneko 13:58, 5 February 2012 (EST)

Link's Awakening Japanese names?

Just curious, but I left the translations section of the Shadow Nightmares page alone because I was not sure on what its Japanese name actually is. Do you have a source on those names at all, or were you just working with what was already on the wiki? For awhile I've been looking for names from the main official Japanese guide for the game, but only find names from a couple of third party guides I've seen scans of, both of which seem to avoid naming the final boss forms in any detail. None of those names came from me, but I was just translating what was there. I think Jeangabin was the one to add those names, so you could try asking him. - TonyT S C 20:58, 11 February 2012 (EST)
