Lightning is a recurring mechanic in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3][4][name references needed]
Overview
Link's Awakening
Lightning can be seen during the opening of Link's Awakening. As Link sails through a Thunderstorm, his boat is struck by Lightning and destroyed.
Breath of the Wild
Lightning occurs during Thunderstorms, striking sporadically. Any metallic weapons, shields, or bows, including those equipped by Link or an enemy, will spark during Thunderstorms and will eventually attract a lightning strike on their position (which will deal extreme damage to Link if he does not either remove the offending equipment before the strike happens or equips the Thunder Helm to neutralize the strike). Other metallic objects will also attract Lightning, requiring Link to keep his distance to avoid being hit by a lightning strike.
Tears of the Kingdom
Lightning occurs during Thunderstorms, striking sporadically and functioning in the same way as it did in Breath of the Wild. Lightning also appears in some cloud clusters in the Sky.

In the "Watchers of the Triforce" Scenario, Phantom Ganon makes use of Lightning to attack the Hyrulean Forces.[3] The Lightning can be protected against through the power of the Sages.[5] When a Warrior is struck by Lightning, they lose one quarter of a Heart.
