Template:Mask The Bunny Hood is a mask that has appeared in both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, and has also made a cameo appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Appearances

Ocarina of Time

File:BunnyhoodOOT.png

In Ocarina of Time, the mask is borrowed from the Happy Mask Shop as part of the mask trading sequence, and subsequently can be sold to the Marathon Man that jogs in the same route around Lon Lon Ranch. The Marathon Man will see Link wearing the Bunny Hood and become interested in it.[1] Link can then sell him the mask for an amount of Rupees that will fill up his wallet. It was also unlike any other mask in the game in that it had a special property: wearing the mask would prevent Stalchildren from appearing in Hyrule Field at night.

Obtaining the Bunny Hood

In Majora's Mask the Bunny Hood is arguably the most useful optional mask in the game. The mask is given to Link by Grog in the Cucco Shack in Romani Ranch. The first, and most useful, function of the mask is that it allows the wearer to run extremely fast, allowing Link to move across Termina on foot and still preserve time on the clock. A second minor function is to let an on-screen timer be displayed during the Postman's "count to 10 seconds" game, to aid Link in stopping right at 10 seconds.

Obtaining the Mask

First, Link must obtain the Bremen Mask. Once Link has that, he has to go to the Cucco Shack. Grog will talk about how he wishes he could see the cucco chicks he watches over grow to be adults, but since the moon will be falling in three days he no longer has the ability.[2] If Link equips the Bremen Mask and begins marching around the Shack, the chicks will begin following him as he walks in their proximity. If Link stops his march, all of the chicks will disband. Once Link has all 10 chicks following him, they will all turn into adults. Grog will be amazed, and thank Link by giving him the Bunny Hood.[3]

The Happy Mask Salesman remarks that the Bunny Hood is filled with "kindness towards animals."[4]

The Wind Waker

The Bunny Hood makes a cameo in the Nintendo Gallery, on the wall behind Carlov.

Also, a hood very similar to the Bunny Hood makes a small appearance in The Wind Waker, being worn by Maggie after she's saved from the Forsaken Fortress.

Super Smash Bros. Series

The Bunny Hood also makes an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The wearer of this item can run at a fast pace, and can jump much higher than normal.

Ocarina of Time Manga

In the Child Chapters, Link and Princess Zelda borrow the Bunny Hood and the Mask of Truth in the Happy Mask Shop.

Trivia

  • The Bunny Hood bears a slight resemblance to the Pols Voice enemy, and when Link sells the mask to the Marathon Man he says upon seeing the mask: "I bet with those long ears you can hear the voices..." suggesting a connection between the two.
