Template:Character The Shipyard Worker[1] is a character in Phantom Hourglass. Just like the Bridge Worker in Spirit Tracks, his title operates as a satisfactory description of his occupation.

Appearances

Phantom Hourglass

In Phantom Hourglass, the Shipyard Worker works in the Shipyard on Mercay Island.[2] In the Shipyard, Link can customize the S.S. Linebeck with the different Ship Parts he has collected throughout his journey.[2] If Link accidentally damages the Salvage Arm, he can visit the Shipyard to have it repaired by the Shipyard Worker. If the Salvage Arm's life gauge runs empty it breaks and can't be used until Link has it repaired. The Shipyard Worker charges Link based on the amount of damage that the Salvage Arm has sustained, up to 100 Rupees.[3]

Spirit Tracks

The Bridge Worker's Home. The Shipyard Worker is featured on the portrait to the right.

In the Bridge Worker's Home in the Snow Realm in Spirit Tracks, there is a portrait of the Shipyard Worker on the right side of the room. This, and the fact that he and the Bridge Worker looks stunningly similar suggests that they are related, similarly to how Gonzo and Alfonzo are related.[4]

Trivia

  • At the beginning of the game, the Shipyard Worker repairs the bridge on Mercay Island, demonstrating that he possesses the same abilities as his descendant the Bridge Worker. However, he states that he dislikes repairing bridges.[5] In this, he is reminiscent of Pippin, a farmer in Template:OOA who hates Gasha Seeds but has a descendant, Bipin, who grows them.
  • Given the physical and contextual resemblances, this character could be a tribute to Glottis, a demon and auto mechanic from the videogame Grim Fandango, altough this is not officially confirmed.
