Bait is an item found in some of the Legend of Zelda games in varying shapes. Bait has unique responses to monsters. Bait can also be used for other animals, such as seagulls
The Legend of Zelda
In The Legend of Zelda, Bait (also called Food) is purchased from shops and can be used to attract some enemies. Its essential use, however, comes in the dungeons, where it is used to remove foul-tempered Goriyas from your path.
Oracle Series
In Oracle of Seasons and its sequel, Scent Seeds can be used as ammunition, or simply placed on the ground to lure monsters close.
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker the All-Purpose Bait can be used on enemies and several animals to draw them nearer. The main purpose of this bait however, is to feed it to Fishman so you can persuade him to draw parts of your map and give you information.
A Hyoi Pear can be used to possess seagulls, which can help Link find and overcome hard-to-reach place or obstacles. To do this, Link humorously places a pear on his head and assumes a meditating position.
Twilight Princess
In Twilight Princess bait comes in two forms, both used for fishing:
Bee Larvae: Can be obtained from bee hives such the one above Fado's house in Ordon Village or purchased from certain shops around Hyrule.
Worms: Can be obtained from bombskit or from digging in mounds of dirt as Wolf Link.
