Hyrule Castle Town, also known as Market, is the main forum and center of activity in Hyrule. The population is mostly Hylian, but as seen in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Gorons commonly occupy the streets in hopes to sell their wares. The town appears across many of the games and is presented differently in each of them. In all the games in which it appears, Hyrule Castle Town is home to different shops, sidequests and sometimes minigames.

Ocarina of Time

The town in OoT located directly in front of Hyrule Castle. The smaller, less austere version of the city also serves as the home of the Temple of Time. When Link is a child, the town is filled with people going about their business. It is a very happy-go-lucky, yet surprisingly small community. It has many shops including a Bazaar, a Medicine Shop and three entertainment establishments including the Town Shooting Gallery, the Treasure Chest Shop and the Bombchu Bowling Alley. A Happy Mask Shop can also be found here.

However, when Link returns, seven years later, he is shocked to find the town in ruins, and populated by ReDeads.

In the game, Hyrule Castle Town was the place where Link first met Malon, however in the comics, it was in fact the place where Link first met Princess Zelda.

Although the town has in many other games, it is still mainly famous for OoT.

Like the indoor scenes, in the game, Hyrule Castle Town has a static (albeit intriguing) background, in the style of the Final Fantasy series.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap,the town renamed "Hyrule Town", is the holding place of the Picori Festival. It is where Vaati first appears. The town has many shops and villagers and is host to many traveling merchants whom which you can fuse kinstones.

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, the town is considerably larger, and was renamed to simply Castle Town. The town is filled with busy Hylians who, unlike in the OoT incarnation, won't all talk to you. The town is home to many several different areas of interest such as Telma's Bar, Purlo's STAR Circus minigame, and Jovani's (& Agitha's) side quests to find 60 Poe souls. It is also where the sub-quest to locate the 24 Golden Bugs begins.

The main town is split into central, western, eastern and southern areas; with the entrance to Hyrule Castle located north of the town centre. Two back alleys connect the longtitudes (east & west) with the southern part of the town, to avoid walking through the centre and waiting on the loading screens.

Running through the town in wolf form causes a public uproar, and Midna advises that you don't change form until you leave town; so as to avoid an even bigger panic amongst the locals.
