"Don't Go Alone" is a Challenge in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition.[1] It is the first Challenge and first Normal difficulty Challenge in the set based on The Legend of Zelda.

Overview

As it is the first Challenge, "Don't Go Alone" is unlocked by default and does not require any Coins to play. The objective is to enter the Cave containing the Sword-Giving Old Man and retrieve the Sword as quickly as possible. It begins in the area outside of the Cave, mimicking the beginning of The Legend of Zelda. Link begins the Challenge with three Hearts and no Rupees, Keys, or Bombs.

Leaving in any direction other than entering the Cave will trigger a rewind, taking Link back to his previous position seconds prior. However, the timer will continue to advance as normal. As Link enters the Cave, the Sword-Giving Old Man will speak, advising Link to take the Sword due to the danger ahead.[2] While the Sword-Giving Old Man is speaking, Link will be unable to move.

The Challenge is completed as soon as Link touches the Sword, and a rank is awarded based on the completion time. By completing the Challenge at A Rank or higher, Link can earn a corresponding Pin.
