Breath of the Wild
Pins are used on the Map to add waypoints. There are five available types of Pins, each depicted with an unique color and pattern. Contrarily to Stamps, only once instance of each Pin can be placed at once, making the maximum number of Pins set at once a total of six.
Tears of the Kingdom
Pins are used on the Purah Pad's Map to add waypoints. There are six available types of Pins, and each bears their own color and Sheikah number. Due to the Map having three separate layers, the icons for Pins have two different versions for whether they are placed on the same layer that is being viewed or on a separate layer. Pins will appear wherever they are placed when Link looks through the Scope. They can also be placed with the Scope.
