Lightroots,[name references needed] also known as Glowing Roots,[1] and Roots That Dispel the Darkness,[2] are locations in Tears of the Kingdom.

Features and Overview

Lightroots are the roots of Trees found in the Depths. They can be activated by Link to light up a portion of the Depths. When activated, they reveal the surrounding area on the Purah Pad's Map and become available for use as Travel Points. Their light also reverses the effects of the Gloom on Link's maximum health.[2]

Each Lightroot has a corresponding Shrine of Light on the Surface.[3] The names of these Shrines of Light are anadromes of each Lightroot, with their names spelled in reverse.

  1. "Hey, you!

It's REALLY dark down here. Not one bit of light gets here from the surface. Even with my goggles, I can hardly see.

I really should have brought some brightbloom seeds with me.

As one of the few sources of light, the glowing root growing down from above has piqued my curiosity.

I'm not sure what it is, but it looks harmless enough. This place is roughly under the shrine on the surface. Hmm...

Anyway, I'm off to the glowing root I see shining west of here, so you better hurry up and get moving!
