Relay Base
Relay Bases,[1] also known as Bases in the Depths,[2] are locations in Tears of the Kingdom.
Features and Overview
Relay Bases are Yiga fortifications found throughout the Depths. All Bases are staffed by Yiga Footsoldiers piloting Vehicles, one of whom is tasked with keeping their storehouses secured.[3] Upon this Footsoldier's defeat, the storehouse will be able to be opened, where Link can find two Stone Chests containing a Large Crystallized Charge and a Yiga Schematic. At least one Yiga Clan Notebook can also be found at every Relay Base. Sundelions and Mighty Bananas can occasionally be found at these Bases. Some Bases also have traps built from Zonai Devices that must be disabled or bypassed.
Several Abandoned Mines have had smaller Relay Bases built on their premises. They are not actively patrolled by Yiga Footsoldiers and contain no Treasure Chests, though they do feature Yiga Clan Notebooks and abandoned Vehicles that Link can use. However, a Researcher can often be found nearby, who will reveal themself to be a Yiga Footsoldier and attack Link if spoken to.
North of Great Abandoned Central Mine, there is an empty and run-down Relay Base with no Yiga Footsoldiers, storehouse, or Stone Chests. The only thing left is a Tattered Notebook. The text is damaged, but it seems to suggest that the Yiga posted there were warned by Master Kohga that something was going to happen.[4]

Trivia
- One of the Yiga Clan Notebooks mentions a "disaster in Hyrule Field".[5] This could potentially refer to the empty Relay Base, as it is located in the Central Hyrule Depths.

Relay bases must be built to facilitate safe and effective navigation of the Depths.
All bases should follow the operation guidelines below to ensure the quick and flexible deployment of personnel.
1: Secure all treasure and valuables, such as crystallized charges, in the storehouse.
2: Select one person to ensure that the storehouse is thoroughly sealed and protected at all times.
3: If the storehouse is threatened, other personnel must immediately report to engage in hostilities.
See volume 1 for information about base placement.
