"Secret of the Cedars" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Overview
In Hateno Village, Link can encounter Clavia standing on the Dock behind the Kochi Dye Shop. When Link approaches her, she realizes he is a traveler and asks that he listen to her.[2] If Link stays, she points out a group of three Cedar Trees atop Madorna Mountain on Mount Lanayru.[3] Clavia found a note between the pages of an old Book in her home that instructs the reader to turn towards the Necluda Sea when the Trees appear as one to find a Trial "encased in stone".[4] She believes it may be directing them to Afromsia Coast, which is located east of the Cedar Trees.[5] In addition, she thinks that the Trial may be referring to a treasure.[6]
Though she is curious to find the treasure, Clavia is unable to go on such a journey because of her role as a mother.[7] Therefore, she asks Link to investigate on her behalf and retrieve any treasure he finds.[8] When she is done speaking, the Shrine Quest will begin.[note 1]
Through following Clavia's directions, Link will find a pile of rocks blocking the entrance to a cave on Mount Lanayru. Using a Remote Bomb or a Bomb Arrow, Link can destroy the rocks, which reveals Tahno O'ah Shrine. Once the Ancient Shrine has been activated, the Shrine Quest will be completed.
