Talk:Shadow Insect
These insects are only visable as wolf link in Twilight Princess. These insects have stolen the light out of places in Hyrule. When you return the light the the spirits you can enter the places as Link in the Light World. There is a giant shadow insect at Lake Hylia which still only counts for one light orb.
Gender Specification
The paragraph calls the Twilit Bloat the "Queen" of the Shadow Insects (makes some sense), but then continues to refer to the bug as an "it". Would "She" be more appropriate? —Embyr 75 --Talk-- 21:24, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Uh...how do they know it's a "Queen"? Why not a "King"? I'm guessing they're getting all this stuff from the Prima guides, but...no way for me to check that. :s Dany36 21:43, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I have no way to verify that either. But Queen seems more likely, given that most bugs have Queens to lay eggs rather than Kings who... would not be helpful lol. It's more of a reproduction thing than a monarchial thing. =D You know, Ants, Bees... Shadow Insects... =) Plus the large abdominal section would be congruent with the egglaying idea.

Twilit Bloat - split?
Ok, I just saw this page and the first thing that came to my mind was: gross. And I'm not talking about the bugs, I'm talking about the overall look of the page. Multiple infoboxes = instant death. Furthermore, I think Twilit Bloat (is that even a canon name for it?) should have its own page since it's considered a mini boss. Just think about it like Octoroks and Big Octos. Thoughts? - I thought of that too. Since she's a mini-boss, it makes sense that she'd have her own page. I don't know about the name... the zelda.com/tp characters/monsters doesn't list her anywhere that I can find.

- I just got someone to check the Prima guides, and they call it Twilit Bloat there, so I added the ref. I removed the "Queen" part since it doesn't say anything about that on the guide, so unless someone finds a reference for that, then this is how it'll stay. B) Dany36 22:02, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Mutation?
Shadow Insects are said and shown to be the holders of the Tears of Light; however, during Ordana's account of the fates of the other three spirits, Shadow Beasts are shown entering Faron's spring and (off-camera) stealing Faron's light. This suggests a potential connection between Shadow Beasts and Insects (beyond the obvious), perhaps as the result of some sort of mutation or metamorphosis. Might this be worth mentioning somewhere? Luda
The article says that Shadow Insects are invisible to dwellers of the world of Light. But Luda was able to see them and she's a light dweller as in her quote. "...I...would not do that. When Father instructed me to secure the cellar, I saw insects like the beasts outside..."
