Tag Mode is a recurring mode in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Overview
Phantom Hourglass
In Phantom Hourglass, the Tag Mode is used to swap ship parts and treasures via Nintendo DS "tagging".[1] To tag another system, both DS systems must be in Phantom Hourglass's Tag Mode at the same time, where the tag will be automatic.
It it unlocked after meeting Freedle on Mercay Island.[1] Freedle has boxes set up. Each player can put an item in any box and speak with Freedle to open Tag Mode. When you receive new treasures, the magic boxes containing them will bulge and wiggle. From this point, simply open the boxes to claim your new treasures.
A Tag Mode battle is also possible in two manners. As DS Download Play (2 DS systems and 1 gamepak), battle data will not be recorded. 2 DS sytems and 2 gamepaks may 'tag' one another and play Battle Mode; results will be recorded.
Due to the fact that Tag Mode utilizes the DS's wireless capabilities, Tag Mode will drain the system battery faster than normal playing.
