The "Ballad of Gales" is a recurring song in the Template:Series, first appearing as a playable song in The Wind Waker.
Appearances, Learning Locations and Uses
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker, it is taught to Link by the Wind God Cyclos.[1] He teaches it to the young hero after he defeats the wind god using the bow and arrows while caught in his cyclone. This melody allows Link to warp to the following islands of the Great Sea:
- Mother & Child Isles
- Windfall Island
- Dragon Roost Island
- Tingle Island
- Greatfish Isle
- Tower of the Gods
- Southern Fairy Island
- Forest Haven
- Outset Island
This tune is mandatory in order to progress in the game, for it is the only way to obtain the Fire Arrows and the Ice Arrows from the Fairy Queen in the Mother and Child Isles.
Twilight Princess
The "Ballad of Gales" appears once more in Twilight Princess, as the fifth song Wolf Link must howl in order to summon the Golden Wolf on Snowpeak Trail. This version incorporates parts of the The Wind Waker main theme, in addition to the Ballad itself.
Hyrule Warriors Legends
The Ballad of Gales is played whenever a warrior uses the Ocarina item during a battle, summoning a cyclone that carries the warrior to one of the Owl Statues on the map, chosen by the player.
Trivia
- The last nine seconds of the "Ballad of Gales" is the "Minuet of Forest" from Ocarina of Time.
