Couple's Mask
Template:Item The Couple's Mask is an item in Majora's Mask.
Location and Uses
The Couple's Mask is obtained by completing the reuniting Kafei and Anju sidequest. The Couple's Mask is different from other masks in that it gives no special ability or attributes when worn and has very little use. If it is worn in the Mayor's Residence during a meeting in any of the three days, Mayor Dotour will end the meeting and give Link a Piece of Heart.[1]
Components
The Couple's Mask is a sign of two people dedicating their lives to each other by creating two wedding masks and combining them to form the mask, a ritual which signified that the two people are now a couple.[2] The mask is formed through the merging of two separate masks: the Sun's Mask and the Moon's Mask. The merging happens if the two lovers press each mask against the other. Although it is uncertain if the Couple's Mask is always made up of a Sun Mask and Moon Mask, the form the final mask takes seems to always be the same.[3]
Moon's Mask
The Moon's Mask is a ceremonial mask created by Anju for use as her ceremonial wedding mask, and is one half of the Couple's Mask. It is kept by Anju on a mannequin with her wedding dress inside her room at the Stock Pot Inn. Combining this mask with the Sun's Mask results in the Couple's Mask.
Sun's Mask
The Sun's Mask was created by Kafei for use as his ceremonial wedding mask, and is one half of the Couple's Mask. The mask is stolen by Sakon and is the reason Link and Kafei visit his hideout.[4] Combining this mask with the Moon Mask results in the Couple's Mask.
Trivia
- The Couple's Mask is one of the few non-unique masks in the game. The other examples are the Keaton Mask, which each of the Bombers claim to have, Romani's Mask, which is owned by all customers of Latte, the Garo's Mask, which both Gorman Brothers own, and Kafei's Mask, which Anju also has.
