Chudley's Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium[1] is a location in Twilight Princess. Owned by Chudley, it is a fancy, high-end store located in Hyrule Castle Town.

Features and Overview

All of the Emporium's merchandise is so ridiculously overpriced that Link cannot even afford the cheapest item, and no one is allowed to enter Chudley's shop unless their shoes are polished. As such, Link must get his shoes shined by Soal, who is standing just outside the shop and will polish shoes for 10 Rupees, to even access the store.[2][3]

Once Link donates enough Rupees to repair the bridge in Eldin's Hyrule Field and funds Malo Mart's Castle Town branch, Chudley's shop will close and is replaced by Malo Mart. He then becomes the new worker at this branch, changing his attitude as well as his wardrobe.

Trivia

  • In Chudley's Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium, a "classy" remix of the original shop theme from Ocarina of Time can be heard.
  • Interestingly, Chudley states that the Water Bomb is a "shop original", despite the fact that Water Bombs are available from Barnes' Bombs and a Zora near the Lakebed Temple as well.[5]
  • In Twilight Princess HD, picture frames of Breath of the Wild screenshots appear as an easter egg inside.[11]
  • In the HD re-release, the prices are raised in compensation of the Colossal Wallet available through the Cave of Shadows: however, Link's limit will still be 1 Rupee short of affording the cheapest item, the Arrows—and another 10 off for Soal outside, which is required just to enter the Emporium.
