Biography

A Link to the Past

 

In A Link to the Past, three Fortune Tellers can be found in both the Light and the Dark Worlds. One can be found north of Kakariko Village, another one next to the Lake Hylia Shop Cave, and a third one north of the Village of Outcasts. By paying between 10 and 30 Rupees, the Fortune Teller can give Link advice on how to proceed in his adventure. Also, Link's Hearts are fully refilled.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, the Fortune-Teller from Hyrule, located north of Kakariko Village, gives Link the Hint Glasses used to find the Hint Ghosts. Another Fortune-Teller can be found north of Thieves' Town in Lorule.

Ancient Stone Tablets

In Ancient Stone Tablets, the Fortune-Teller finds the Hero of Light when he arrives to Hyrule. He, alongside Aginah, gives hints on the weather and effects that happen during each week.

Cadence of Hyrule

In Cadence of Hyrule, there are four Fortune Tellers that are scattered throughout Hyrule. They are elderly women whom can be seen constantly weaving quilts shaped like pieces of the Triforce with their eyes closed.[2] Three of them can be found in red, blue, or green huts with red flags marked with the Crest of the Sheikah out front, where they sell Heart Potion and Stamina Potions in cauldrons, which can be scooped up with an Empty Bottle. They can also foresee into the future at the price of 10 Rupees, and paying them will have them to mark a spot on the map to tell the heroes where they need to go, along with providing more information on Octavo and why Hyrule is in chaos[3]. However, it seems that their powers are growing weak without their magical thread, which Octavo stole in order to make his lute[4][5] as they cannot see that far into the future without it.[6] Though the effects on their powers vary by individual, as the Fortune Teller of Wisdom can't see into the future for a very long period of time while the Fortune Teller of Courage can still see twenty-five years into the future, which is considered not very distant.[7]

The fourth Fortune Teller can only be found in Hyrule Castle after Link, Princess Zelda, or Cadence jumps into the portal to travel to the future, where she sells potions at the price of diamonds. She also runs a special shop in a heaven-like place where adventurers with unfinished business end up[8], selling Heart Containers, weapons, and equipment that fallen heroes can bring with them when they return to Hyrule[9].
