Article name

Does this article title really need to be "Materials in Hyrule Warriors"? It really should just be Material. -The Goron Moron (talk) 17:04, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was just trying to keep it consistent with the Items and Weapons pages.KrytenKoro (talk) 19:18, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree that the page should be called Material(s), as this shouldn't really be just a list. It can (or should) be expanded to look like the Spoils and Treasure pages. Chuck (talk) 00:32, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We already have a Weapons in HW and Items in HW pages, so this page doesn't have to be consistent with those. Calling it "Material" is good enough. -The Goron Moron (talk) 00:36, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I typed up the name list as I was looking at the NA game, so unless I went full-dyslexic (which is possible), it should be "Stalmaster's". Can we confirm which version was used that said just "Stalmaster"?KrytenKoro (talk) 13:10, 27 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Some clarification would be nice.
There's "Stalmaster Wrist Bone" and "Stalmaster's Skull". Both are as they should be; I have the North American version. - TonyT S C 15:30, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'll check my copy again, I guess.KrytenKoro (talk) 20:46, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ah I see. You don't need to check, though, as I confirmed that it was "Stalmaster Wrist Bone" myself (I can easily provide video evidence, but I don't think that's necessary). - TonyT S C 22:24, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Have they announced how they're going to handle the Materials for the three upcoming Warriors? Cia, Volga, and Wizzro were in the main game, so you could get their stuff there, but the three new 'uns won't be.KrytenKoro (talk) 19:53, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Answer being: for Twili Midna, they don't appear to have her interact with the Material system at all. Dang.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:06, 2 December 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Has anyone found an NPC Tingle or Young Link yet? What do they drop?KrytenKoro (talk) 15:21, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So Tingle doesn't drop anything, can anyone confirm that Young Link drops the same as Link?KrytenKoro (talk) 21:55, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

TFH cameos

Is it worth mentioning in the trivia where an item is reused from elsewhere in the series? Like the Sky Dragon Tail and Royal Ring.KrytenKoro (talk) 01:57, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Unique Materials

On the Coliseum page, it says some Materials can only be obtained in that mode. When I played the game, I completed the Woodlands and Riverside Drablands challenges before even touching the Coliseum, and was awarded a Supple Leaf and Thornberry respectively. In the Coliseum, it says those are unique Materials for their respectivaly arenas, but from my experience, it seems the "unique" Coliseum Materials can also be obtained by completed all of an area's challenges. Since I've only done this for the first two of eight areas, I'm not 100% sure, but this pattern seems feasible. Does anyone know for sure? Kirpow (talk) 02:23, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, some materials can only be obtained either on the coliseum or by completing all the challenges in one area. - Chuck * (Talk) 03:27, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Which means no Materials are completely exclusive to the Coliseum, yes? Kirpow (talk) 03:39, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Affirmative. Those materials can be obtained in two different ways. - Chuck * (Talk) 04:31, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

In the Coliseum mode, Materials are awarded to the winning Link based on a random percentage: common, rare, and unique. Should these classifications be included on this page for each of Tri Force Heroes's Materials? Kirpow (talk) 02:23, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

We are actually working on how to implement the rarity of materials right now, so just be patient. - Chuck * (Talk) 03:27, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The King Tuft materials can also be obtained as the rarest rewards for the respective Coliseum battles.KrytenKoro (talk) 21:43, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could we simply state "King Tuft" and something like "Coliseum: Volcano", with a ref tag on King Tuft to explain which realm you have to clear? Same for Faux Hero, Item Seller, and Daily Riches.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, could we add a fourth "platinum" rarity for these? The Item Seller will sell the first "gold" material from each area, but not these coliseum/tuft ones.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No, because the Coliseum and King Tuft materials are still ranked gold. A clarification could be added, but not a new rank that doesn't exist. - Midoro (T C) 17:29, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Where in-game are they ranked gold? I thought that was something we had developed based on shop prices.KrytenKoro (talk) 20:41, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
When you receive a material from the Coliseum, it is marked by a bronze, silver or gold colored background and diamond. That's where the diamond icons come from. - Midoro (T C) 21:20, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oooooooh. I thought the coliseum only did that last rank for the unique material itself, so I was confused why we were using it for the next-rarest material, but if it's giving both of them at a 20% rate, I guess that makes sense.KrytenKoro (talk) 21:51, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Some of the Materials are listed as obtainable in levels, but this is only true if one is partaking in a Drablands challenge. Before defeating the boss, certain Materials listed are not available in previous levels. Should this be specified somewhere, or is it too trivial?

Also, some locations are simply listed as one of the eight areas, while others are specified with each level. Shouldn't this be consistent between all Materials? For example, if something is located in every level of Woodland, should it read simply "Woodlands", or should each of the four levels be listed? Kirpow (talk) 02:39, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It would probably be better to list all the levels in which they can be obtained, just so it's consistent throughout the table. - Chuck * (Talk) 03:27, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Could we use ref tags to list the challenge?KrytenKoro (talk) 15:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Just a heads up

My (admittedly crappy) computer is positively choking on this article, failing to render it unless I finagle it to preview individual sections. Can we look at re-splitting the Hyrule Warriors stuff to alleviate some of the load?KrytenKoro (talk) 16:20, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm currently trying to get opinions from other people about the general speed of the page. If it's mostly just on your end, I'll have to say "no." I'm running a basic (far from outstanding) computer and it loads just fine. - TonyT S C 08:34, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Legends Materials

Hyrule Warriors Legends added a whole bunch of materials for DLC characters that didn't have them in the original, new enemies, and new characters. Those should be added to the list with images. Does anyone have images? --Bobb11881 (talk) 18:28, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This is a good point. Peanutjon (talk) 19:20, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, you can find these on the Koei Wiki here. However, due to the fact that they come from screenshots on Miiverse, they have a smaller resolution. I have a New 3DS, I'll try to rip some, see if it is better or not.

Also, Medli silver material is the same as Ruto's one (I tested it yesterday). Gold one is currently unknown but it is likely to be Ruto's scale. Fire  -  Luigi, 12:11, 20 May 2016

We usually get our HW images from The Spriters' Resource, when they come. It'd be better to wait for those than take images from another wiki. Also, be sure to sign with ~~~~ when you end your comments, as it leaves an automatic date stamp as well as your signature. - Midoro (T C) 22:15, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

We also took our images from The Spriters Resources, but the problem is that there is no stable emulator for 3DS currently (Citra is good but it development is not finished). But someone will eventually rip these ... someday. :p

Fire-Luigi (talk) 10:14, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Really? There are an awful lot of 3DS sprites available for there to be no way to do it :/
How did you test Medli's material? Is there a battle on the Master Wind Waker map that lets you battle her? Peanutjon (talk) 15:20, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well in fact, several 3DS sprites has been ripped from game files. I don't really know how it works but, they aren't directly taken from the game, for the good reason that it's nearby impossible.

And yes, we can fight Medli several times in the new adventure map, that's how I managed to get it silver material.

--Fire-Luigi (talk) 15:30, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If we can't get images yet, can we at least add slots for them with the names and which characters drop them? --Bobb11881 (talk) 01:24, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Of course. - TonyT S C 01:32, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Great. Does anyone know how? --Bobb11881 (talk) 06:36, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Do you have the names, Bobb11881? I can make the table easily, I just need what to put down. - TonyT S C 15:43, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Miniblin - Monster Horn (bronze); Big Blin - Big Blin Hide (bronze), Big Blin Club (silver); Stone Blin - Stone Blin Buckler (bronze), Stone Blin Helmet (silver); Twili Midna - Twili Midna's Hairpin (silver), Twili Midna's Robe (gold); Young Link - Young Link's Belt (silver), Keaton Mask (gold); Tingle - Tingle's Map (silver), Tingle's Watch (gold); Linkle - Linkle's Boots (silver), Linkle's Compass (gold); Skull Kid - Skull Kid's Hat (silver), Majora's Mask (gold); Toon Link - Pirate's Charm (silver), Island Outfit (gold); Tetra - Tetra's Sandals (silver), Tetra's Bandana (gold); King Daphnes - King Daphnes's Robe (silver), King Daphnes's Crown (gold); Helmaroc King - Helmaroc Plume (silver), Helmaroc King's Mask (gold); Phantom Ganon - Phantom Ganon's Cape (silver), Phantom Ganon's Sword (gold) --Bobb11881 (talk) 17:53, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Are you going to add them? --Bobb11881 (talk) 05:02, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Singular Order

The split between alphabetical order and in-game order for these is starting to become troublesome, and I think it's time to cut one option off.
Personally, as many Materials (mostly in Hyrule Warriors) don't seem to have a rhyme or reason to their order, I believe we should go exclusively alphabetical so that people can find the Materials more easily. I'm certain that nobody is going to refer to the arbitrary order used in HW. What does everyone else think? - TonyT S C 00:12, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I like the in game order. It makes sense to me - it's grouped by normal enemies (like Stalchild and Soldier) and tough captains (like Aeralfos and Darknut). Bosses are listed in order of being fought, except with Ganon first. The playable characters are a little bit stranger, but at least they're all together. Peanutjon (talk) 00:54, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Is it not possible to just make the table sortable like on Wikia? Then we could make one table with the in-game order that can be sorted alphabetically automatically with just the push of a button. Peanutjon (talk) 00:56, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That is an option, but I find the sortable table class to be rather unwieldy and I usually opt to go without it. Still, it's not out of the question. I'd like to hear more opinions. - TonyT S C 01:55, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sortable tables are incredibly easy (just add class="sortable"). Since in-game order is probably going to be most useful to people viewing the page (since that's the order it is in their game), and because alphabetical order is easily implemented by sorting whereas in-game order is not, I think having the page only list in-game order in a sortable table is the best option. --SnorlaxMonster 04:35, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What Snorlax said. Just add a sortable option and kill two birds with one stone. - Midoro (T C) 05:00, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Majority seems to be set on sortable, which I still figure to be OK for TFH and outright unhelpful for the HW titles. Will update accordingly. - TonyT S C 05:13, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Unique pages?

When should Breath of the Wild materials have their own page? I see that Ancient Core has its own page but Warm Safflina does not.

What's the policy here? Rump (talk) 20:06, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

They'll all be getting their own. They just haven't been created yet. TriforceTony (talk) 22:54, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
