EX The Knight's Nightmare is a level 59 Challenge in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.[1] It can only be played by purchasing the first wave of the game's Expansion Pass, Pulse of the Ancients.

Overview

EX The Knight's Nightmare is a Challenge in which the Warriors must rescue Link before he is defeated. At first, they must defeat five Enemies. The group of five consists of an Ice Guardian, a Fire Guardian, an Electric Guardian, and two Guardians, with the Guardians located right next to Link. The Warriors can only access the Ice Guardian and Fire Guardian at first, but when they are both defeated, the gates behind them will open, allowing both of the Warriors to reach the Electric Guardian. When the Electric Guardian is approached, two Guardian Scouts I spawn very close to it, and are added to the group of Enemies that must be defeated. When all three are defeated, a gate opens leading to Link and the Guardians. Until this point, the area is with Black Bokoblins, but changes to Silver Bokoblins on the path to the Guardians, along with the rest of the map. When both Guardians are defeated, a Guardian Scout I spawns in the southern area of the map, in front of an Outpost. There are two Outposts in the southern area of the map, and the gates open to both when all seven of the Enemies from the previous objective are defeated. There is a stationary Guardian in the Outpost farther north, and a Guardian in the lower Outpost. When the gates open, the newly spawned Guardian Scout I and the Guardian from the Outpost farther south move toward the Links. After a certain amount of time, the exact same Enemies reappear in the same location and move in the same direction if the Outpost they spawn in front of is not captured. After another certain amount of time, a Fire Guardian spawns in front of the Outpost farther north and do the same. The Warriors are also given the objective to capture both Outposts. When they are captured, the gate to the west of Link opens, and from there the Warriors must escort him to a Targeted Position in the southwest corner of the map. The Warriors cannot take a southern route to this position, as there is a gate that blocks them off. Two sets of Guardians stand Link's way, both in front of closed gates. The first set contains two flying Guardians and the second set contains a stationary Guardian and a Fire Guardian. When either set is defeated, the gate behind them opens. There are also a few small groups of Electric Keese scattered around the path up until the first gate, a few Fire Chuchus behind the first set of Guardians, and two small groups Ice Keese behind the second set. As Link and the Warriors approach the Targeted Position, a Guardian and Malice Guardian spawn. The Challenge ends when both are defeated.

The Challenge can be cleared using any two Warriors, and when completed for the first time, the Warriors receive a reward of twenty Swift Carrots, twenty Warm Safflinas, twenty Cool Safflinas, and a random Weapon.
