Tears of the Kingdom

Two kinds of Iron Box exist throughout the world in Tears of the Kingdom: dark, dented Iron Boxes and solid, light-colored Iron Boxes. Dented Iron Boxes can be destroyed and may contain Items. The solid Iron Boxes cannot be destroyed, however.

The following section is not part of the Zelda canon and should not be taken as such.

Two types of Metal Box can be found during Battles: small, dented Metal Boxes and large, solid Metal Boxes. If a Box is bombarded by the Warriors with Electricity from a Lightning Rod, a burst of Electricity that stuns and damages nearby Enemies will be generated around it. Powerful Foes affected by the Electricity bursts will both be stunned and have their Weak-Point Gauge made vulnerable. After the Electricity disappears, the Box will break open. They can be frozen with the Stasis Sheikah Rune and, being metallic, are also susceptible to Magnesis.

When broken, Metal Boxes may drop one, five, or seven Green Rupees, a Healing Item, or nothing.
