Biography

Breath of the Wild

Monari is an elderly resident of Tarrey Town, which is located on Lake Akkala. She and her husband, Moggs, move in after Fyson opens the Slippery Falcon (Tarrey Town Branch). Their House is located behind the Ore and More Jewelry Shop. During the day, she walks around the center of Tarrey Town. At night, she sleeps in one of the Beds inside her House.[6]

Monari and Moggs have a son together who has recently left to travel the world.[2] Due to this, the pair moved to Tarrey Town with their Hylian Retrievers after hearing a rumor about it.[7] Though their House feels empty without their son, Moggs believes his absence has brought him and Monari closer together.[8]

Upon first meeting Monari, she greets Link and asks who he is.[9] After Link responds, Monari questions if he came to Tarrey Town to purchase a holiday home.[10] Whatever Link's response is, Monari warns him to be careful, as there seem to be many strange people living in Akkala.[11]

When Link speaks to Monari again, she asks if he needs something from her.[12] If Link asks about the strange things she has seen, Monari claims to have seen strange plants and guys with ugly faces outside of Tarrey Town.[13] She also mentions Mija's Great Fairy Fountain southeast of Tarrey Town, but after speaking about it with Moggs, she came to the conclusion that one should not disturb things that they do not understand.[14]

While speaking with Moggs, Link can ask him about Monari.[15] He claims that she is great at Cooking, and he particularly enjoys her Mushroom Skewer.[16] After this conversation, Link can ask Monari about this, and she claims that Moggs was exaggerating her skills.[17] While she knows the basics of Cooking, Monari believes her real talent lies in baking.[18] She learned her skills from her grandmother, who ran a sweet shop for the Royal Family of Hyrule.[3] However, Monari claims that Link does not appear to need sweets, instead saying he needs to eat a lot of Food to put meat on his bones.[19]

If Link asks Monari about her baking skills again, she claims that her grandmother taught her how to make Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Pie.[20] At Link's prompting, Monari reveals that she also knows how to make Monster Cake.[21] While Monari considers it easy to make, needing only Tabantha Wheat, Cane Sugar, and Goat Butter, she has found that the final ingredient, Monster Extract, is difficult to obtain as of late.[22] Despite its disgusting appearance and smell, Monari claims that Monster Cake is a very filling meal.[23] After hearing this, Link can ask Monari to repeat the recipe for Monster Cake.[24]

At 9:00 PM, Monari will return to her House for the night. If Link speaks to her, she may tell him that she has to get ready to go to sleep, suggesting that he do the same.[25] Alternatively, she might say that she has to go to Bed, since she struggles during the day if she does not sleep well.[26]
