Biography

Breath of the Wild

Quince is a hunter who can be found with Satty, his pet, at the Wetland Stable. He is usually staring at the eastern clouds. When first talked to, he becomes angry as Link is a man, saying that there are no women in the stable.[4][5] If Link apologizes, Quince says that he does not want to hear it, saying that guys, along with the Zora prince, are the stable's only visitors.[6] Link can ask about the Zora, and Quince will describe them to him and where they live.[7] He also says that they wanted him to go to Zora's Domain because they needed a Hylian, although he is reluctant since he does not want to leave Satty behind.[8] When told that he seems grumpy, he admits that he is disappointed that there are not many women at the stable, telling Link the clouds sour his mood as well.[9]

If Link tells him that he seems grumpy, Quince tells him to look to the clouds in the east, saying that rain sours his mood and that Satty cheers him up.[10]

Finally, if Link asks him about the stable, Quince once more says that it is filthy and only filled with men.[11] He also talks about Sidon's previous visit to the stable, and says that he is only at the stable because of Satty.[12] At this point, Link can ask about the Zora again, and Quince will give the same response as he does in other situations.

At any time that Quince talks about Satty, Link can ask about him, and then he will tell Link about how they met if the hero chooses to listen.[13] He will then proceed to tell him his story about finding the Lord of the Mountain when he went hunting, meeting Satty along the way who eventually protected him from the creature.[14] Afterwards, he will inform link of the location of Satori Mountain, the place he had the encounter.[15] He will also propose that Link find the Lord of the Mountain.[16]

If it is raining, Quince will stay or go inside, and wonder where the sun or any girls are when talked to.[17] If Quince is talked to for the second time in a day, he will start by asking Link if he is only here to disappoint him again.[18] Additionally, if Link disguises as a girl, Quince will try to flirt with him before realizing he is a man and saying that his clothes will not fool him.[19][20] He sighs, and says that he should have known he would not meet any women at the stable.[21]

At 12:00 AM, Quince walks to bed, saying that he is hungry when talked to.[22] When asleep, from 1:00 to 5:00 AM, he dreams about the Lord of the Mountain returning and telling Satty to run.[23]

He thinks in daytime, they're likely to rest in a cave or some shade by the roadside. At night, they might make a fire to deal with the cold. Be sure to help them out if you see them.

I thought it sounded like a good opportunity to turn a profit, selling the meat and whatnot... So I go to the mountain and wait for the animals to show up. When suddenly this dirty little pup appears out of nowhere! I figure he's been separated from his parents or abandoned by his last owner. He starts begging for food, so I give him some jerky, and he runs off over a hill... Later on, I doze off for a little while, and there's a big glowing beast standing right in front of me! It caught me completely off guard. I couldn't even draw my bow! I just stared at it. And then the beast runs at me like it wants to trample me! Suddenly the pup I gave food to jumps in between us! He starts barking at the beast, who was ten times his size! All to...protect me... Even though he was trembling with fear... Then the beast recoiled a bit... So I took that chance to snatch up the pup and flee down the mountain, tripping and falling all the way... ... And that's my story." — Quince (Breath of the Wild)
