The Royal-Family Shortcut is a cavernous waterway system disguised as a Well at Hyrule Castle. It leads to Suthorn Beach to the far south of Hyrule. As part of the Main Quest "The Mysterious Rifts", Zelda passes through the Royal-Family Shortcut to escape execution at Hyrule Castle.

The first section inside the Shortcut begins as a pool of Water housing three Green Rupees. Across this pool there is a platform that leads down into another pool with two more Green Rupees and a floating Wooden Box. By standing on this Wooden Box and summoning Echoes to cross the gap, Zelda can move beyond the pool to find a third and final pool. This third pool is obstructed by three Wooden Boxes, which must be weighed down with a heavy Echo. Upon diving through this pool and resurfacing, Zelda reaches an underground dock.

A Rift forms at the dock and quickly advances toward Zelda, forcing her to flee. After falling into the rapid waters, Zelda loses consciousness and awakens at the end of the Shortcut, which exits to Suthorn Beach.
