Sage Avatar
Sage Avatars are characters in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Biography
Sage Avatars are projections of a Sage's power, made possible via the possession of a Secret Stone. By swearing a Vow to Link, a Sage may allow their Sage Avatar to serve as a traveling companion to Link.[2][3][4][5] Sage Avatars are nearly identical to their respective Sages, with the only difference being their translucent blue bodies and glowing white eyes. A Sage's Secret Stone can also be seen on Sage Avatars. After being upgraded, Sage Avatars receive a yellow-green sheen and their eyes glow yellow instead of white.
While summoned, Sage Avatars will automatically attack Enemies that are acting aggressively towards Link. They also allow Link to call on a Sage's power, as if the actual Sage were present. Sage Avatars can be summoned and dismissed by interacting with their respective Vows in the Inventory.[1] Even if they are active, Sage Avatars will not appear inside towns. With the exception of Tulin's Avatar, Sage Avatars will only accompany Link while he is traversing solid ground, and will be temporarily dismissed if he begins Climbing, Gliding, Swimming, or some other action that takes him away from solid ground. Sage Avatars will also attempt to move out of frame when Link is using the Camera.
The damage of a Sage Avatar may be increased through two ways. If Link trades four Sage's Wills to a Goddess Statue, he can deepen his bond with a specific Sage, upgrading their Vow to a Solemn Vow.[6] The respective Sage Avatar will then be permanently upgraded, gaining a visual tweak and increasing their base attack power. Sage Avatars will also be temporarily upgraded while Link is wearing the Divine Helm associated with that Sage's Element. This will cause the Sage Avatar to wear the same helm worn by the corresponding Sage from the Era of Myth. The Sage Avatar's base attack power will also be increased by the Divine Helm, stacking with the increase granted by a Solemn Vow.

Tulin's Sage Avatar attacks with a custom Great Eagle Bow, firing between one and three Arrows, with any shots following the first dealing a lower damage. The first, second, and third shots have a 30%, 45%, and 60% chance to land a Critical Hit on his target. Once he lands a Critical Hit, any subsequent shots of the volley will also deal double damage. Tulin's Avatar will be strengthened when Link wears the Vah Medoh Divine Helm.

Tulin's Sage Avatar allows Link to call upon Tulin's Power of Wind by interacting with him. After doing so, the Avatar will move behind him, ready to release a strong gust of Wind that will push away Objects and many Enemies alike, or propelling Link forward while Gliding. This Ability has a 15 second cooldown, which cannot be shortened, and the wind gust will last for four seconds. Because Link can use this Ability while using his Paraglider, Tulin's Avatar is the only one that will stay summoned when Link is airborne.

Yunobo's Sage Avatar uses a Boulder Breaker in combat, attacking when in melee range. This Avatar is strengthened while Link is wearing the Vah Rudania Divine Helm.

When Link interacts with Yunobo's Avatar, it will enter an aiming state in front of him, ready to be launched forward with a trail of Fire, striking the first thing it hits with an explosion. The explosion will deal damage equivalent to the Avatar's current base attack power, plus extra Fire damage depending on the target struck. Unlike other sources of damage, this explosion damage does not suffer a damage reduction against Hard Sediment. The Avatar can also block some Enemy projectiles from the front while it is being aimed by Link. This ability has a nine second cooldown when used normally.
When traveling at a sufficient speed on a Vehicle, Yunobo's Avatar automatically enters the aiming state, and can be launched without a cooldown, instead relying on the time it takes to return to the Vehicle after landing or not striking a target quickly enough.

Sidon's Sage Avatar fights using a Lightscale Trident, sometimes with a attack multiplier of 0.5, 0.34, or 0.27 depending on the specific attack combo used. This means that the total damage done by a combo will still approximately match the Avatar's base attack power. Sidon's Avatar receives a damage increase from the use of the Vah Ruta Divine Helm.

By interacting with Sidon's Sage Avatar, Link can use Sidon's Power of Water, placing him inside of a bubble of Water that protects him from a single attack for the next 10 seconds. This Ability has a cooldown of 10 seconds, starting when the shield is first applied. The bubble will not protect Link from environmental damage, such as falling from a great height or being struck by Lightning. If Link performs an attack with a Weapon before the bubble is broken or fades away, he channels the Water into a projectile that fires forward, matching the attack power of the Weapon used, including the Attack Up Effect if it is present. The travel speed and width of the projectile correlate to the type of Weapon used. Spears generate a fast, thin wave, Two-Handed Weapons generate a slow, wide projectile, and One-Handed Weapons generate a projectile that is moderate in speed and size. The water bubble also has the secondary effect of making Link wet for a moderate amount of time, which can be used to temporarily avoid damage in Extremely Hot Zones and Scorching Climates.

Riju's Sage Avatar is equipped with a pair of Scimitars of the Seven, using both single-sword and dual-sword attacks. Riju's Avatar is strengthened while Link is wearing the Vah Naboris Divine Helm.

Link is able to call upon Riju's Power of Lightning by interacting with her Avatar, creating a dome that grows larger over time. By firing an Arrow within this area, Link can cause Lightning to strike where it lands. This power has a cooldown of 10 seconds, and the dome takes 20 seconds to reach its maximum size. The Lightning deals 10 explosion damage[note 1] plus 60 Lightning damage to most Enemies within its range. Gibdos and Moth Gibdos instead take 9,999 Lightning damage, Queen Gibdo takes 150, Taluses take 70 damage to their bodies, and Electric Chuchus, Electric Keese, Electric Wizzrobes, and Thunder Wizzrobes take no Lightning damage. Struck Enemies will also receive some extra Fire and Electricity damage depending on the Enemy in question, plus any damage taken from being set aflame. The damage from the Lightning strike does not override the damage of the Bow used, so shooting a target with the Arrow directly will deal the most damage possible.

- Despite being translucent, taking a Picture of the Sage Avatars' Weapons will allow Link to register them to his Hyrule Compendium.
