The Magical Key is a recurring Item in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] It allows Link to unlock any Locked Door.[2] Unlike a normal Key, it is reusable, meaning that regular Keys are rendered useless once obtained.

Location and Uses

The Legend of Zelda

In The Legend of Zelda, the Magical Key can be found in Level 8. It is golden and has a bow shaped like the head of a lion. Once obtained, the Key count is replaced with the letter "A",[3] which stands for "almighty."[4]

The Adventure of Link

In The Adventure of Link, the Magical Key is found after using the Spell at the edge of Hidden Kasuto.[5] It is also gold-colored, but the lead shape resembles a coat of arms.

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors

In Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, The Magical Key appears as Ganondorf's 8-Bit Weapon for the Great Swords.

Trivia

  • In the original Japanese release of the first game, one of the old men in Level-8 tells Link to search for the Magical Key within the dungeon.[6] However, the Western releases changed this line to a vague reference in exploiting enemy spoils.[7]
