*There was originally planned to be a third game to accompany {{OoS}} and {{OoA}}, entitled ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Mystical Seed of Courage|Mystical Seed of Courage]]'', which would have presumably featured {{Term|Series|Farore (Oracle)}} as the main focus equally as {{Term|Series|Din (Oracle)}} and {{Term|Series|Nayru (Oracle)}} were in {{OoS|-}} and {{OoA|-}}. However, [[Capcom]] ultimately decided that it would be too complex to link three different games, so they abandoned the third game and integrated {{Term|Series|Farore (Oracle)}} into the two remaining games as the "Oracle of Secrets".

Farore is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[3][note 1]

Biography

Oracle of Seasons

Farore appears in Oracle of Seasons, where she reveals the secrets obtained as a result of a Linked Game.[5] She is hidden in the Hall of Secrets.[6] Farore carries a book titled "Farore's Memory." After completing a game, or starting a password-linked game, the book appears to the left of Farore, containing any linking passwords found so far.

Oracle of Ages

Farore appears in Oracle of Ages, where she reveals the secrets obtained as a result of a Linked Game.[7] She is hidden in the Hall of Secrets.[8] Farore carries a book titled "Farore's Memory." After completing a game, or starting a password-linked game, the book appears to the left of Farore, containing any linking passwords found so far.

The Minish Cap

Farore is described as a helpful person looking for a place to live in The Minish Cap.[9] After Vaati impersonates King Daltus, she appears alongside the other Oracles in a room on the second floor of the Happy Hearth Inn, where she hopes that they will not have to stay indefinitely.[10]

If Link Fuses Kinstone Pieces with Farore, Gorman arrives in Hyrule Town seeking to rent out his Vacant House.[11] When Link speaks with Gorman, he will ask Link to let him know if he finds a woman willing to rent the House.[12] Link has the option to show any of the three Oracles the Vacant House; if he chooses Din or Nayru, Farore will consider visiting them.[13]

If the second Vacant House is built and given to another Oracle, Farore is left as the only one of the trio without a home, and will complains that she is alone.[14]

If Link shows either of the Vacant Houses to Farore, she will move in; he can visit her afterwards, whereupon she will thank him and offer to give him Farore's Charm whenever he has an Empty Bottle.[15] When consumed, the Charm increases Link's attack and defense, and turns his tunic (and Ezlo) purple for the duration of the effect.[16] Although both attributes are increased, the offensive boost from Din's Charm and the defense boost from Nayru's Charm are higher.[17]

Link can also Fuse Kinstone Pieces with Farore for a second time,[18] resulting in a Joy Butterfly appearing in Castor Wilds; when it is collected, Link is able to dig with the Mole Mitts more quickly.[19]

Trivia

  • Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages were originally developed as a trio of games, each featuring one of the oracles. However, when the three-way linking proved too complex for the system, Mystical Seed of Courage was developed into Oracle of Ages, Mystical Seed of Power became Oracle of Seasons, and Mystical Seed of Wisdom was cancelled. Nayru became the focus of Oracle of Ages, and Farore was integrated into the two remaining games as the "Oracle of Secrets".
  • Her Figurine description in The Minish Cap could be a reference to her losing her own game from the intended trilogy. The fact that Link can only find houses for two of the Oracles may be a reference to this as well.
  • The concept art for Farore shown in Hyrule Historia seems to indicate that she was originally planned to be a singer, a role assumed by Nayru in Oracle of Ages.

Notes

  1. Farore was referred to as Flore in Official The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons & Ages Perfect Guide by Versus Books.[4] However, as this contradicts the name given in-game, it is not considered Canon.
