Malena is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[3][4]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Malena is a Gerudo who can be found in Gerudo Town. During the night, she enters the Barracks, where she will beg the Gerudo soldiers to help her.[5][6] At night, she sleeps at the Hotel Oasis, whispering in her sleep about a cure.[7]

Malena is originally from Gerudo Town, but she left after marrying her husband, Platt.[8] With their marriage, Malena believed that she had finally found happiness.[9] However, he soon became sick with a rare disease.[10] After discovering that he could be cured with Molduga Guts, she returned to Gerudo Town to ask for help, since she would never be able to defeat a Molduga by herself.[11]

When Link speaks to Malena, she explains her plight to him.[8][10] When she asked the Gerudo Soldiers for help, they denied her.[12] Malena does not blame them for avoiding a beast as dangerous as a Molduga, and she theorizes it would be foolish to expect others to help a stranger in need.[13] She is disappointed that she has been forced to return to Gerudo Town because of her circumstances.[14]
